I am an investment and an ATM machine

Last monday I went to Baker University where I was told that " You, Mariah, are an investment". An investment? What happened to actually being a person. All colleges are concerned about is if you are worth having at the school. Makes sence, not complaining, but wheather or not the person drops out they still recieve tuition for that sememster or however long they stayed there.

My dad was telling me in the car on the way back that "Mariah theres just no way that you WONT get into college. They wont turn down 24,000 dollars." I was mad at him and thought he was completely wrong. But part of it was right too. I guess they want students that are going to make them look good and also cough up the dough.

I came across this solution when I was filling out scholarships. I've been pooping them out (not litterally of course) for a couple of weeks now and on almost every form I've seen it says "Tell us why we should consider you for this scholarship." Most of the time I would rather put "Because Im poor and want to get a good job." But thats not a good enough reason.

Iono I think that I want a college that is going to tell me that they like me for my determination and how hard I have worked, not because "I am a good investment".

If any of you have gone to college or plan on going to college or anything to where you had to be chosen to recieve money. What were you told?

I never looked at it that way. I guess I never thought about when I'm at a school my tuition is what is keeping the school open. I've been out of school for some time now and plan to go back in August, I'll let you know what happens then.

I just played the hand I was dealt..... I'm just playin to win ;-) (rapper 2Pac)
