Why do college professors insistent on assigning homework the first week of class? We college students have to pay for our books and most of us can not or will not pay book store prices which are exceedingly expensive to get our textbooks and ordering them online takes time for delivery so how am I suppose to do my homework out of the book when it will not arrive until the next week or later. I mean in the book store my books are bout $100 new and $80 used online I found the same book in pretty good condition for $15.

What would you do order the book online or buy it at the store if it was coming out of pocket?
Did you try to get a list of books you would need before classes started? Also remember if you have to buy your books through the college's book store, the school makes more money. You buying your books online doesn't benifit your professors or college at all, so you shouldn't expect them to make that easier for you, especially if you don't bother asking for their help. In the mean time you could share with someone else, or see if you could borrow a copy from the library.
That’s the other thing the TA told me that there was a copy in the library available but when I went to get it to do the homework they told me that they didn't have it. Luckily because I contacted the TA before the assignment was done I didn't get any penalties and the TA informed the instructor about the book so that problem was solved to.
I forgot to add that getting the books in advance I found out is a bad idea because in some classes you don't even use the book. Like last semester I had a professor that put a book you can get on the list but told us on the first day of class the his class is all lecture and the book was for reference only. I forgot to add that to my last post.
I am not in college yet, but I would find somebody that had already had the class, not only for reference, but to see how the professor is, or the workload, and the ins and outs of the class. (that was a long sentence)
