I sit here, eating a muffin, wondering about life. I have just read several blogs about the tragedies in the lives that surround me. I honestly wonder why life ends up so horrific.
I work in a 24 hour Mr. Mikes. The amount of cigarettes and chewing tobacco, alcohol, and lottery we sell in one 8 hour shift is incredible. One regular spends hundreds of dollars on the lottery. Jokingly, one day, I asked him if he was going to share his big prize of $100. He sounded irritated as he answered "did you pay for the ticket?" I shook my head and answered "It didn't hurt to try" I was smiling but he wasn't. He came over to the counter and said dauntingly, " I work three jobs, one full, two part time. I work hard for every dollar I earn. I have a family to take care of. What do you do?"
I thought about it. I work 2nd and 3rd shift at a Mr. Mikes. I work hard for every dollar I earn. I'm saving my money so I can go to college and I can get married in the next two years. I'm paying my way for everything. Every mistake I have made in my short adult hood I am paying for. But I have humor. I have self respect. I don't go around making people feel less of a person because I choose to do something. He didn't have to work three jobs on my account. It's not my fault that he has a gambling habit and hit a nerve by trying to joke with him. I didn't know him well enough to try to get under his skin.
So how do we fix all of this? I'm not sure. I just try to keep a smile on my face. I keep trying to make other people smile too. How else do we change the world? I can't storm people's homes with the US Army and demand that they are happier and nicer to the people around them. It's a absurd concept.
I'll keep smiling and hoping.

As much as people go far away from God, that much unrest comes in life which reflects in daily life.
Sometimes I think you cant worry about changing the world for everyone, everyday that you live. The biggest decision you can make is to have personal happiness within yourself and many times that can radiate to other people. The biggest obstacle is to not allow it to be stolen from you from those who are less fortunate in the personal happiness realm.
You don't talk like someone who works for a living. I'm not changing the world for me. See, I have to deal with people day in and day out. Changing the world has to start with the person first. So it's more or less the fact that people don't have to "deal" with me.
You completely missundersand me.

No I am simply agreeing with what you are saying. But at the same time I am telling you that no matter how hard you try, you will never please everyone that you come in contact with throughout a day. One thing that you can do on your on and ensure success everyday is having personal happiness and not let anyone make that different. Hopefully while doing this, you will brighten the times for others, but don't lose sleep over it if you haven't changed the lives of all those you meet.
I'm sorry. It didn't sound like it to me. Forgive me?

Lost in translation.....it's fine....and no I dont work for a living as in a paid job, but that doesnt make me an idiot.
I never once ment that you were an idiot. It's just different situations, like working costomer service, can cause a similar way of thinking in groups of people. It was just obvious that you had not experienced costomer service. For example my sister doesn't understand conversations between my mom and I about our jobs. My sister is a gymnastics coach. My mom and I both work costomer service jobs. She just doesn't understand the concept of people.
She is one of the most successive person I know. So any one can do with out that particual experience, but every experience is good.
But thank you for being understanding.

Does anyone remember that 90's pop song (maybe by VitaminC) with the words "Put a smile on your face, make the world a better place?"
I like to think a smile really can change the world. But that's just me.
:D Well the saying "smile: people will wonder what you're up to" is so true. You would be amazed to know how many people act confused when I'm nice to them. If I don't change someone's day, I certinly made someone think.
