living life here in the US is pretty tough for the most part, always being discriminated and being called a terrorist on a daily basis, i just wish that people would only realize the good sides of Islam. Islam is not all about bombing people and "terrorism", its actually vey peaceful. An example would be teh Hijab, i wear one and im proud of wearing it too, and wearing the hijab is not opression. I actually feel free wearing it, you know, people not knowing how my hair looks like or see my figure and not looked at as a sex symbol, much like how the models are now-a days. It is tough to find somthing decent around here, since eveything here is so tight and skimpy, but i try to be as decent as i can.
many people view Islam as people who are extremists and would bomb a place for the religioen. This may occur, but its looked at a completely different way, more of a good thing, if done right. There is a major difference between suicide bombers and jihad.
Me being raised here in the US, i know and have seen the corruption that goes on in Islam, especially after 9-11. I have seen, even my friends stop wearing the
Hijab and or dont wear it properly, such as exposing the neck and chest area. This has been found in myspace or personal connections. I am just scared that the reliegeon will drop down due to the war in iraq and 9-11. I believe that if everyone will jsut get a slight idea of the good sides of Islam then there wont be much of a controversie of people saying the bads of Islam.Im not saying that i liked what happened during 9-11, i just hate the impact that it had not only to middle eastern but to the US as a whole. Ever since then, there have been many racial controversies going on, its like a mask that has been placed on America that cant be removed. : (

thats a very good question, men are not required to wear hijabs because its in the reliegeon itself that women are supposed to be modest in front of men. And usually around puberty, things "act up" when it comes to men seeing a women, you know what i mean.
women in the Middle East are appreciated for beauty, you dont have to show your figure to others and call that beauty, it takes many different forms. Another thing is would you rather be opressed and seen as a sex symbol in todays society or feel protected from being seen that way?

Women in the middle-east are appreciated? That's news for me. Last I heard, women still aren't allowed to do things like, oh, take OFF their hijab. Not without being lashed or stoned.
thats the thing about men, whenever they see a nice figure and someone who is attractive leads to things like rape or sex. men are modest in front of women also but in a sense that they are to respect them and not to look at the girls figure and such...in the summer time there are long things that are cool and comfortable and instead of pants you have an option of a flowing skirt, which ever is comfortable. Women in the middle eat ARE appreciated becuase of their modesty. And taking off the hijab is a major sin in Islam and will result in going to hell. Its only to prevent women from going to hell by commiting that sin, so its a form of protection, although its seen viciously

Why is sex evil? And wtf? The hijab does NOT prevent rape. MANY mid-eastern women are raped by their own husbands. ALso, rapists do NOT go after women due to their attractiveness. A rapist doesn't rape a woman because she is pretty, he rapes her so he can feel power over her.

ok, i never said sex is evil, we are allowed to have sex with our spouse AFTER mariage, and its considered a sin [in our reliegoen] to take off the hijab, teh hijab is meant to protect as long as she wears it properly, like modest clothing etc, and thats true some women do look at men as sexual objects, but we are supposed to CONTROL those sexual urges [dont get me wrong on this]
i never said its ok to force them i just said they are doing that for their own benefit, you just dont understand, look why dont you look at some hadiths or look at a english translated Quran adn learn something about the relieon instead of arguin with me, maybe you might understand what i am trying to explain to you if you do so.

I already pointed out the hijab does NOT protect a woman, because men do not rape women based on their appearance, and in most countries where women wear hijabs, they are forced into marriage anyway.
Also, didn't you just say that it's alright to lash, stone, or murder a woman for taking off her hijab? That does mean FORCING her to wear it.
