As I sit here at school with nothing to do, I am looking through entertainment news on MSN. I constantly stumble among things about Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. It makes me ask myself the question, what is happening to the young celebrity women?
I remember when Britney Spears first began her singing career. I was in about 4th grade I think. I listened to her music all the time and looked up to her because she seemed like such a sweet person. Now I look at her and see her downhill spiral of parties, alcohol, sex, and possibly drugs. It makes me wonder what happened to her. It seems like as soon as she got involved with that low-life Kevin Federline, her personality and life came crashing down. She had somewhat mischevious behavior before him, but not nearly as bad. In a way I feel sorry for Britney, though. I really think that she is having some kind of mental breakdown over her ended marriage.
Then there is Paris Hilton. She never has really been such a good role model because of that sex tape that the whole world knows about. Sadly, she has been spending time with Britney Spears, and I think may be the part of the cause for Britney's new ways. Paris constantly flaunts her money and acts like she's some kind of sex icon. She gives me this vibe that she thinks she is better than every one. She is one good example of someone girls shouldn't look up to.
Finally there is Lindsay Lohan. She isn't much older than me. I remember watching her in movies, such as Parent Trap when I was younger. She also seemed like a sweet person. Now she takes stripping lessons, is all over guys, and is very heavily involved with alcohol. I do think sometimes the media follows her too much and can be too hard on her, but I also believe most of the time she brings it upon herself.
It makes me sick to think that these are the young women that many girls look up to. It seems to me that's all you hear about these celebrities anymore: sex, drugs, alcohol, and parties. What has happened to them, and the world for that matter? Children still look up to these people after all of that. Is our society really that low to where we think doing things like that are cool? As much as the media is sometimes shocked by these actions, other times it's just accepted and has this 'well I kinda figured that would happen' vibe. In a way it kind of scares me to see how the world is going to be when I am an adult, when the role models children and some teenagers have are people who have nothing but terrible behavior.

"Now I look at her and see her downhill spiral of parties, alcohol, sex, and possibly drugs."
Hey now, that's just what the media wants you to see. And who says sex and alcohol are bad? She's legal. Anyway, point is, I don't think many on this site give a **** about celebrity life :/
Sorry so harsh,

Ahmm....not everything is as it appears...
I sure britney was getting it on and drinking some captian the whole time she's been famous. Everyday people all over the world are doing the same things that celebrities do. Celebrites just screw up publicly.
Yeah I kind of feel sorry for Britney. I try not to pay attention to the news about her, because who knows what is true and what isn't? It does appear that she is going through a tough time now, but I almost blame the media and pop culture in general for that. Either way it's not something that keeps me up at night. I'm more concerned with why everyone else seems to be so absorbed in celebrity life. Why do so many people crave the newest info on Britney, Paris, Lindsay and others? Why do so many care so much about this crap that they'll have arguments about how much of a slut they think Britney is?
These people chose to become famous. It is there resposibility to think aobut what they are doing and how the press will report it. Sure, everyone messes up once in a while, but when it happenes this often, they are doing it just to be in the press. That isn't right. There are lots of young women who model themselfs after these celebutards. It is also our responsiblity to get them out of the media by voicing that we don't want to see it, that we don't want it reported.
