The R. Kelly case is going on and while listening to the radio, the subject was brought up on if R. Kelly was guilty and if the girl was a consenting adult.
Just to touch on a little bit... If a 15 year old shot your 26 year old son or daughter should it be your child’s fault because they were the adult? Is the 15 year not held responsible?
I work with teens and I can remember asking one if there was anything that they needed or wanted to know in reference to the subject of sex. The young ladies, these are teens turned to me and said "Is there something you want to know about sex, I'm quite sure I can teach you some things". They thought this was cute. Not to say that there isn't underlining issues for a teen being sexually promiscuous but at what point do we stop allowing them to not be held accountable for there actions?
The teens today are well developed more than ever. Using the fact that some might have been molested or raped but it is clear that in this situation, because it was taped, they were not raped. Before the hammer is thrown at R. Kelly when will "the parents" be held accountable for allowing their daughters to be out in these places with grown men at all hours of the night. Not that R. Kelly is not innocent because he has a responsibility as a role model, artist, father, etc but if we put him on blast why not address the complete situation as a whole!

I tend to agree with you, which is apparently the unpopular opinion. But honestly, most of these girls that are having sex with older men know what they're doing, know the laws and don't give a flying flip that it's illegal. They should be held equally responsible for the decision instead of us screaming child molester or pedophile. It's one thing for an older man to have sex with an unconsenting teenager; it's quite another when it's consensual. We're already sexually irresponsible... these things aren't exactly helping address that problem.

It is kind of strange that we can find an 11 year old accountable for a muder but a 15 year old is a victim of child molestation
Alece!
I agree that the girl also has some fault in this, but from a moral standpoint, I still put most of the blame on Kelly. When I was 13 and 14, I also thought I was mature enough to have sex with a grown man, but I was really just stupid and immature. R. Kelly is a grown man who took advantage of a young girl's naivety. Sooner or later she will realize how he used her.
they were not raped
Statutory rape is what it's called

So should our immaturity be blamed on the unknowing? I can remember using my older sister's ID to get into places. Just maybe the parents should be held more accountable when it comes to these teens running the streets instead of trying to get money out of someone. The video tapes if anything was evidence that the girls were not raped yet it can be that the girls were underage but where were the parents?

There was no doubt about the girl being underage. R. Kelly is not some innocent man who was tricked into having sex with an underage girl. The fact that the girl seems to have bad parents does not make what R. Kelly did any less wrong. A parent can't be with a child 24/7, so all the blame cannot be placed on them because some scumbag took advantage of their daughter. Statutory rape is rape because a child cannot consent to sex with an adult.
