Judicial Branch, Oligarchy or Check and Balance?

Ever wondered why we have a Judicial system? Our founding fathers put it there as a check and balance to the other two systems, the Executive branch and the Legislative.

But have you ever wondered why Non-elected judges have the power to change and interpret the law as they wish? Shouldn't WE be able to elect our own judges? And shouldn't we be represented in ALL branches of government?

The Judicial Branch is used as a check and balance but as it is now, it's little more than a oligarichal micro-government. I think we should try to bring our own representation into every form of government. We should be able to elect our judges and their terms in office should expire after a time. Of course they can be reelectted but the fact that they hold a public office tells me that they should be elected. Especially when they interpret the laws for the population.

It seems that on closer inspection, our form of government is not as democratic as we thought. It's full of loop holes and ways for a smaller group of people to control the larger. I think that needs to change. I exhort anyone who wants to see true democracy to be enstated in our country to research these things because an informed populace is one that can change itself...

and this is why. Supreme Court justices are there to overrule anything that comes in conflict with the Constitution. The court was provided to protect the rights of minorities as you can see with Brown V. Board. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but there was a reason why the framers did not actually put the entire government in the hands of the people. We are ignorant, and there is no way that we could possibly run a democracy unless we were all completely learned in some way. The reason why our government is still running is due to the large amount of people who devote themselves to helping our government run. Without them and the approval of policies by the general public, our representative democracy would fail. I would love to see a real democracy, run for and by the people. But, unless the people are truely committed and ready to let go of federal help, I never see that happening. I appreciate your optimism, though. Go you! Haha!

Hey I actually agree with you on that subject. But as you said, I am an optimist so yeah. I wrote a blog response to your question aknowledging the need for the judicial branch but explaining my idea further. Anyways, I wrote it in blog form so that other people can see it too. I hope you can check it out!
