There, I caught your eye. You should ask yourself the question of whether you would have looked at this blog if it were about Iraq, stem cell research or global warming.
But seriously, why is the biggest news story for the past 3 weeks the death of one individual who really didn't do much for society (I don't even know how she made her living...I know she had her own show for a little while but that's all I know about her). The American media is way overcovering it.
Why? Because the media needs to make its money too, just like any other business, and all that the American people care about is their treasured celebrities. This is why there were more votes for American Idol than for the presidential election (I know, there can be multiple votes for Idol, but there still shouldn't even be a comparison between the leader of our country and some singer you'll forget about in a year or two.)
What the people don't realize is that by their backs turned on the important issues and their eyes intently staring at the news of Anna Nicole or Britney Spears, we are missing out on another growing media circus--our government.
Yes. With our government making more and more decisions that we are unaware of, we are losing allies in the world, and basically are laughed upon by everyone watching our exterminations of reason and logic...(France says--ten Euros that this general will die by Memorial Day, Germany replies with a let's switch to the debate on abortion on channel 3.) The people need to stop wasting their time on trivial matters, and pay more attention to what is happening in their country and their world. Only then can they be informed enough to judge the situations that we are going through, and maybe agree on a common solution.
