Why is it that football players make a ton of money and have little morality off the field? Hockey is a wonderful sport. (Fighting is not allowed at most levels). Most hockey players I know spend a lot of time and money to improve the sport and their own communities. Football players (although some do) spend some money but very few spend any time at all to help improve their communities (a commercial or two for United Way). In fact just the opposite in some cases. The NFL should come down on it's own community and fine those who aren't upstanding citizens. They make too much money as it is, to not stay out of trouble. They obviously have too much money and time if all they can do is get into trouble.

i think you're making very wide, broad generalizations on both sides. analyze the subject more, cough up some facts, and you might be surprised by what you find.

I agree as well. Unless you have investigated the personal lives of each and every player, it is unfair to say that none of them are active in the community.

Some football players also use some of their money to buy expensive clothing, jewelry, shoes, cars, etc. like the players that are on "MTV Cribs".
True, but a lot of them save it up. Their careers are very short lived, so many invest for their future.

I know some of what I have said are broad generalizations but at the same time I could list player after player that has a criminal record. Thses football players need an education or a trust fund in stead of a paycheck. Force them to think before they act.

Are just as bad. I feel for those poor kids. (Britney's) Those two shouldn't be parents. It's scary what might become of them. The should hire a nanny (qualified/certified). Lindsay should be in jail for law breaking.

ok voltaire just what exactly do you think I'll find anyway? I am very familiar with the culture and community surrounding hockey. There are a few goons out there but in general these guys have hearts... and heads that follow. There are a few (very few) outstanding football players out there that give back more than you could imagine, but given their outrageous salaries there should be more. Jason Taylor for the Miami Dolphins is a prime example of the good. Ray Carruth, O.J. Simpson, Brian Greise are the bad. (With many, many others on this list)
