How long can we continue in this fashion? It seems pretty well assured that we're going to reach our environment's carrying capacity without some drastic modification to how we use and distribute land and resources. I am not one of the doom-sayers who believe we've already damned ourselves to extinction and irreversable environmental damage. I believe very strongly that we are an ingenious species who have the ability to fathom our own demise and can work towards a better future.
That said, its also true that for the most part, we're not going to take action until the threat is directly affecting us, or it becomes seriously economically viable to do so. I don't think we're at a level of mental evolution to think these things though with our children's future and our fellow humans in mind. Luckily for us, the earth, and everything that shares this environment, we've come up with some pretty brilliant ways to make environmental action both practical and profitable. I'm very interested to see where some of these Green Technologies and Sustainable Building will lead us.
My next few blogs will be about different technologies and theories for a more responsible use of our resources. I am hoping to get people thinking along sustainable lines. We have a responsibility to ensure that this planet can carry the burden of humanity for an indefinite future. Its not just for love of the Earth, its for our own survival.

I, too, am very interested in the topic of sustainanbility. If you care to read them, I've already written several blogs on global climate change.
