People hate being corrected at Starbucks...

My girlfriend (we'll call her Alyssa) works at Starbucks, and while she has complete pride in her work, no one else on the job seems to give a damn about anything.

She just wants to help. So when a new worker came in, Alyssa helped her out -- you know, tried to teach her the ropes.

The newbie flipped out. Right in front of a customer, mind you.
"Could you stop correcting me? Who do you think you are? Are you the manager, are you a trainer?"

No, of course not. But pardon for actually giving a shit about how things should be done at Starbucks -- a chain known for its supposed legendary service.

Now the entire staff is giving Alyssa the cold shoulder. I know that she's not one to be overbearing, and I'm just wondering if people really hate being corrected that much, or if having pride in your work is actually a bad thing.

The other employees used to be so nice to Alyssa before the incident. Now they treat her like an outsider. Have they all sided with the newbie, and think that Alyssa is stupid for wanting to provide the best service possible? Or maybe Alyssa was nagging too much?

What gives?
