Religion was created by society, and what people need to understand is that God does not care about religion but a relationship with Him. I must admit that certain churches get carried away in regards to making up rules that they think will get them into heaven. What they fail to grasp is that what is of utmost importance is a relationship with God. Once you go into a relationship with God you begin to feel the need to please Him. You can find out what pleases God in the bible. This is where you can get to learn who God is and why it is important to serve Him. Don't be afraid, He is a good and awesome God. Therefore if you want a relationship with God, just accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He was sent to die for your sins and He loves You. In my opinion, there is no poisen than that of organized religion. So before anybody blasts me on that comment, remember it is my personal opinion. When people start thinking that their religion is better than that of another is where the problem starts. History repeatedly tells us that organized religion has been one of, if not the major, cause of wars, genocides and all kinds of atrocities against the human race. It's very hard for me to accept that that is what a God or gods call for.
you make a statement that is true in point, but I would ask that you'd consider the backstory and the history out of which those events stemed.
First, those events are results of abuses of power, furthermore they were done by humans to whom God has assigned Free Will. I presume that your reference to history implicitly implies the Crusades. Back in those days the Church was the final authority of the land, and everyone understood that. So, just like today, when people become power hungry they seek to ellevate in the power structure to put themselves in a position to exercise authority. So, realize that there were people in that society, just as there are today, who weren't serious about God and went through the motions in order to get where they wanted to get. once they arrived they abused their powers because their original intent was ill-natured to begin with.
Okay, I understand a lot of you guys on here love Jesus, and that's great. Really. Glad you found something to give you meaning. But GIVE IT A REST. For the love of all things good and right in the world. Ever since you n00bs starting flooding the server, it's been Jesus this, and save the fetus that. It is in NO way progressive. You are not saving the world, even though you might think you are. Project your overbearing love onto something worthwhile, like helping putting a damper on spousal or animal abuse.
Have you ever loved someone to the point where you cannot stop talking or thinking about them, this is how it is with Jesus. Trust me if you understood the love shared between an individual and Jesus, you would never stop talking about Him. This is worthwhile to us. Still keep on doing what you are doing in trying to make a change in spousal or animal abuse but just think how easy it would be to do this if you had Jesus in you life. Take care and God Bless.
