Religion. Because everyone has their opinion so here's mine. (christianity)

I appologize if I offend anyone...but opinions usually do.

I dont like religion in the Christian Church.

Catholocism (sp?):

Lets start of with a major one. I will refer back to the bible that when Jesus was crucified the giant curtan between God and his people was torn in half. Not metaphorically, literally. There was a place only the high priests where alowed to go and God's people were not. You were only a high priest if it ran in your family. So even the most deserving didnt get that position. Catholocism now has a metaphorical curtain between God and his people by puting them in routine. God never meant for us to have routines in our life. Not Cool. Another point is that they twist everything in the bible to what makes them happy. Example: Their excuse for plastic surgery- That Jesus will come back looking for a church without spot or blemish. Give me a break. They also like to leave certain things out of their teachings because they dont like to offend anyone by telling them what they have to do. Like telling them they have to tithe BUT it's ok if you dont because God understands if you need the money...once again, leaving it sugar coated. And a friend of the family was kicked out of her catholic church because she didnt tithe the amount she needed to so she could stay a member of the church.

Baptist:

The baptists believe that God makes everything happen for a reason. Take 9/11 for example. They believe that God did that for a certain reason. If God did everything like that then there is no reason for Satan to even exist. Which really urks me. No, not everything is done by God. But it does say in the bible that God will turn everything bad that happens into your life into something good. Example: Getting pregnant. You are angry because you got pregnant and you think this is so aweful. But later on you see that you have birthed a human life which you are blessed to have.

Lutherans:

The Lutheran Church believes that God acts through them and FOR them...uh huh. So when you sin that is actually God sinning then, hm? They believe that to be a child of God you have to be perfect. QUITE THE CONTRARY! Children of God are just like other people. They go through the same problems and tribulations. Everyone has things to deal with. It's just that children of God can pull through it much easier because God is with them. He's not sinning for them. And they call themselves sinners. Once you are forgiven you are no longer a sinner. "Sinner" is the term Christians use for people who are not saved. They also believe that every serious act that they do for God returns to their baptism. As in they are born again...and again...and again. You are born again only once with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There is a such thing as re-dedicating your life to Christ but not more than one baptism. THEIR WORSHIP...what a topic. Of course they do not worship as we are told to. We are told to make a fool out of ourselves for the Glory of God. And Lutherans are to proud to do that. They learn boring songs with no real meaning behind them and stand there and sing and do it so many times that it's lost all meaning.

More comming soon...

hmm this is interesting. My take on the deities whether it be christian god or others. God is in your heart, God is in the everything around us. you do not need a building or a saint to worship, though those might help focus you.

Ok...I know you have had this up for awhile, but I'm going to respond anyway. I can only defend Catholicism because I am Catholic. I understand the reasoning behind some people's problems with religion. I can explain a few things to you and let you do with it what you want. Catholics have certain traditions and the big ones would mostly be the way that mass is run but another one many people criticize is the Rosary. The rosary is meant as a meditation on certain aspects of Jesus' life. There are some people that say the rosary word for word and don't think about it at all, but I know that the reason it takes me so long to get through one is because you can find a new meaning in every part of it every time you say it if you acctually meditate and don't just recite. That is why I hate it when people say they are going to recite the rosary, but they should be meditating it. Second, the Catholic church does not promote plastic surgery. Let me repeat that the Catholic church does not promote plastic surgery. They acctually teach you to be happy and okay with who you already are because God loves you that way otherwise he wouldn't have made you that way. I understand why some people believe that they distort the bible, but we read the exact same bible everyone else does. A lot of people just see those who do distort what it means to what they want it to mean, but sometimes the truth just hurts them too much (I am not defending these people). And, your friend was not kicked out of the church. The Catholic church teaches that once a member you are always a member, but that sometimes you may not be practicing while others you are (I am not saying that she is not a practicing Catholic). Therefore, unlike many other churches we don't have a ceremony or anything like that other than your baptism and confirmation to join you to your church. You can always claim the church you regularly attend. However, on paper and only on paper the church won't write your name down as an official member unless you tithe, but at the same time, tithing is an anonimous gesture at most churches so they normally wouldn't know whether you did or not.

I am not saying that there is no validity in your argument. What I am saying is that you are taking your view from Catholics you have met and not the teachings of the Catholic church itself. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

Much love to Everyone,
Victoria

I used to go to a catholic church and found that many times the catholic church likes to "leave things out" to make things happier and pleasant with what they are doing. They dont like to teach on hell. They dont like to tell you that you're doing something wrong in your life. The one thing that I sincerely dislike and cant stand about the catholic church is the fact that they have confession. You should NOT have to confess every one of your sins to someone who, more than likely, doesnt care and later on wont remember to pray for you anyways. It's your responsibility to confess your sins to Christ not someone who claims to be an "interceder" for Christ.

Hold that thought. You should learn more about these denominations before you criticize them. I'm with Victoria on this one. You are taking your view from Catholics you have met and not the teachings of the Catholic church itself.

You used to go to a Catholic church. How old were you when you were last there? No offense, but children don't usually have a good grasp of anything. I would question any impression of church or religion made when people were still children.

Catholics don't "leave things out." I don't even know what you meant by this. Catholics do teach the existence of hell. I'm not sure how much emphasis they have on that, though. Perhaps you meant to say that Catholics do not strictly follow the Bible? Because your argument would be somewhat more valid that way.

"They dont like to tell you that you're doing something wrong in your life."

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Catholics are notoriously fond of doing this.

"You should NOT have to confess every one of your sins to someone who, more than likely, doesnt care and later on wont remember to pray for you anyways."

What, have you been brainwashed by the media? Has the flaunted number of Catholic priests who molested children convinced you that all Catholic priests are evil and lazy? I agree there are false leaders, but pity they're always the ones who make the news, not the good ones.

And Catholic is the denomination you were once involved with. I don't know how you could complain about other denominations if you never even took the time to understand them. Sure, you're entitled to your opinion, but as it is, your opinion only reflects your wealth of ignorance. Better be less accusing next time. When you don't understand something, it's better to ask, not to criticize.

Ok.
That's why I said the Catholic church...meaning as a whole. My aunt goes to a great Catholic church with a really cool priest. I enjoyed the services I attended there earlier this year. Yesterday I attended my grandmother's catholic funeral. I listened to what the priest said (whom I've never met before yesterday) and found many flaws in things he was saying by knowing what the Bible says about what HE said. I had attended a catholic church from the ages of 0-14...so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. And my mom is also catholic so I hear this stuff all the time.
