Hello world-wide web this is Adam58 bringing you a live, late breaking news story from the campaign trail, it will be anounced at 11:00 am that former President George Bush Sr. will endorse John McCain.
According to several news agencies which include CNN, FoxNews and the Associated Press Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain is to receive the endorsement of former president George Bush (a.k.a Bush 41). This location of the endorsement will be in Houston,TX which is a strategic location due to the fact that it is in an upocoming primary state.
This endorsement is to be a major endorsement for John McCain because it will allow him to grip some of the base of the Republican party which has been rallying against him in recent months. An endorsement by former President Bush will allow John McCain to possibly sway the Republican base to support him in his likely run for the Presidency.
The endorsement by former President Bush will also likely lead Republicans to believe that there is some sort of symbiotic linkage between the economic and foreign policies of Bush Sr. which could also lead to greater Republican support
As always I will leave you with a question: Do you believe the endorsement of former President Bush will help or hurt John McCain?

I think this will be a very helpful endorsement for John McCain. I do not believe that endorsements should play such an active role. The only people we should hear from at election time are those to be elected why do we have to hear the opinions of the "popular kids" to sway our votes?

"Jesus take the wheeeeel!"
"I'm not sure she really understands how it works..."
True, however that is politics. Candidates play off of the endorsements of important indidivuals because without those endorsements they really wouldn't have anything to back them.
"Back them"?
Try the American public. We don't need representatives and superdelegates to choose our nominee or to convince us that a candidate is diggable. That's such an indirect way of looking at the issue.

I've edited this post to take out the all caps and the million exclamations. It's incredibly distracting and was bleeding over from the recent post list into the poll on the sidebar.

because John McCain is more moderate it may help him win some favor with more conservative republicans.
Bush Sr was not a conservative. In 1979 he ran against Reagan calling the tax cuts "voodoo economics". The only time GHWB ever pretended to be a conservative was when he was running for President near the end of the second Reagan term. He promised to be a third term of Reagan.
But when he was President be reverted to his moderate centrist ways and violated his own "Read my lips, no new taxes" pledge.
I don't think an endorsement by GHWB is going to have any particular persuasive effect on conservatives.
I think most conservatives will hold there nose, vomit a little in their own mouths and vote for John McCain who they despise because they perceive Obama to be far worse.
Honestly, I don't think it will do much for McCain either way. People quite frankly hate Bush right now; his approval ratings are so low that I would think it would hurt McCain if it weren't for the fact that McCain has been an outspoken opponent of Bush for eight years. At this point, I think Bush can endorse whoever he wants... but no one's going to listen to the guy.
The only problem with your comment is that you are talking about the current president not Bush Sr.
