What Putin Thinks about Hillary and What I Think about the Future...

“At a minimum, a head of state should have a head.” A quote from Putin when talking about Hillary.

While I don’t agree with Putin on almost all things, I had to chuckle to myself when I heard this. There’s something that the rest of the world and especially Russia respects and that is force. U.N. sanctions and summits simply do not make Russians worry. That’s one thing I respect about their quasi-dictator. He doesn’t care about what the rest of the world thinks. I think that America should adopt that same philosophy only in the context of democracy.

Does anyone else notice that the Cold War never stopped? It just had a break. Russia, recently in a press conference with Ukraine’s president Yushenko, said that if Ukraine joined NATO and let the U.S. deploy a missile defense shield on Ukrainian soil, they would be forced to aim their nukes at Ukraine.

Haha, I live in Ukraine and I know for a fact that a large amount of the people are in fact Russians. I don’t think that Russia will ever nuke a country they want to occupy. The problem is that not everyone thinks about it first. At the first mention of nuclear weapons, everyone jumps. It’s just an intimidation tactic to push their own policies in a country they don’t own. Classic Russian bullying. Whatever the case, the arms race has begun again and we are at the calm before the storm, waiting before we plunge in.

What’s needed in the upcoming times is a strong president. Unfortunately none of our candidates fit that bill. We need a strong country and a strong military. Now thankfully, we’ve had a president for the past eight years(despite all of his other faults…)who has increased our military expenditure and power. Also, due to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have a plethora of combat trained veterans. The problem I foresee is that the new president will back off on our military while Russia and China increase theirs.

Any thoughts on this? Do you have other views? I’d love to hear them…

Although I agree that it's good to have a healthy military, I think that we ought to be focusing more on the nation's problems than the world's.

The US government has become too large, the economy is potentially entering a recession, there's a massive mortgage crisis, and our social welfare system is a joke. In my opinion, there are many things at home that need to be addressed in conjunction with international affairs, and these important issues have been sorely neglected.

Yes, I am it total agreement with you. I wish there was a way to do both though... I hope the president we elect is stong enough to do that, but by looking at the candidates, I don't think that that's going to happen...
