Bush Approval Rating Hits New Low; Disapproval Ratings Hit New High

Yes, my friends, Bush is an unpopular president. The approval rate in every poll that has come out in the last couple of days are at or near record lows. His approval rates are in the high 30s in every poll.

But, as Atrios notes, his disapproval rate is at a whopping 60 percent. This is according to the latest Washington Post - ABC News poll.

The Washington Post also has a nifty graphic tracking Bush's popularity. The last time that his approval rating was higher than his disapproval rating was a year ago. Christmas time was the last time that the disapproval rating fell and the approval rating rose.

John at AmericaBlog takes a look at the recent history of the Washington Post - ABC poll. The aforementioned December poll was not only the highest his approval rating has been since early last summer, it was also an 'anomaly'.

That poll sent the DC chattering class into a frenzy. They were very self-satisfied with that development. They fully believed Bush was going to build up his approval ratings -- as if the low numbers from Iraq and Katrina were some kind of aberration. Those were the same people who believed Bush when he claimed a mandate after the 2004 elections. You can imagine how Rove was spinning them after that December poll. But that poll was an outlier then and it really looks like an anomaly now.

Polling is not an exact science. No poll is going to be exactly accurate (hence the margin of error). But when every poll out there seems to have Bush's approval rating around the same number that is significant.

With the disapproval ratings so high, I don't think that the groups who ask for Bush's impeachment aren't so extreme as the Republicans still loyal to Bush would lead you to believe.

President Bush continous to LIE to the American people. It seems that everything he has said is a distortion of the truth and when he is called upon to explain his explanation is just another LIE. THIS ABILITY TO LIE WITHOUT CONSEQUENCE HAS COST AMERICAN LIVES. How can we allow a LIAR to remain as President. It is that simple. The congress should begin Impeachment procedings based on an "ABUSE OF POWER AND POSITION". Maybe the corruption of our institutions; Legislature, Executive and Judicial has reached a point where we the American people might have been subjected to a "COUP OF POWER" and specific acts such as the "PATRIOT ACT" support this evolution of the American Dream. Any Supreme Court Justice that allows a LAW that takes rights away from people as Constitutional is corrupt and not doing their sworn duty. Any President that states the "CONSTITUTION IS INCAPABLE OF DEFENDING OUR NATION" has not lived up to his sworn promise to support and defend the Constitution of The United States. Any Congressmen that support these actions are also against the very meaning of our purpose and resolve. WE ARE INTELLIGENT PEOPLE THAT HAVE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH AND CORRECT PAST MISTAKES NOT REVISIT THEM. I am completely ashamed of the Executive branch of our Government. I am completely ashamed of our Supreme Court and I hope that we can get the CONGRESS to come back to the American people. The RIGHTS of American citizens are not negotiable in any WAR or in any conflict. PLEASE HELP ME MAKE AMERICA RIGHT AGAIN. PLEASE IMPEACH PRESIDENT BUSH and his whole staff. If we don't take action then who will???

Vincent Cuevas,
JUST ONE AMERICAN

IMPEACH BUSH

President Bush at the very least should be impeached for the lies and deception and misleading the american people and congress into an unjustifiable war that was killed tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens and over 2,000 Brave American Soldiers. Ideally he should be brought up on charges and imprisoned for war crimes. Mr. Bush will go down as the worst President this country has ever had. I have many Republican friends who are now embarrased that they voted for him the second time and no longer support him in anyway. Under his misleading direction we are now in a mess that will take many years and billions of dollars to get out of. While we are pouring billions of dollars into rebuilding iraq (and from what I have heard it is mostly going to building military bases not schools and hospitals as were are being led to believe!) we at home are paying not only for this with our taxes meanwhile he is driving the deficit higher and higher. We are also paying the price through riduclous gas and fuel oil prices. Another misleading statement from Bush was that the cost of rebuilding was going to paid for by the oil Iraq produces, lies, lies, lies. Inclusion I support the starting of the process of impeaching bush or bringing him up on war crimes.
Sincerely,
A very ambarrased and sadened American
