Film remakes

Now a days movies are starting to dwindle in the ideas department or has it been this way for a while. Next weekend the movie Disturbia will be released on Friday. If you haven't seen the comercial, it is a suspense thriller about a teen on house arrest that has nothing to do bt look out his window and sees his neighbor murder someone. No one believes him so he has to get the proof himself. If anyone is clued into Hitchcock you would know that this is basically a remake of his 1954 movie the Rear Window, just with younger leads and and little more thriller. What is funny is that it just seems that so many movies over at least the last ten years have been remakes of a very noteable film. A few years ago there was the movie the Swim Fan that I saw and enjoyed but later I saw I love the 80s and found out that it was a remake of Fatal Attraction. They samw thing goes for Cheaper by the Dozen, Fun with Dick and Jane (which these 2 movies were honest about), the Departed, the Grudge ( remakes of recent japanese films) and Cruel Intentions which most probably didn't know was based off of a 1989 movie name Valmont (starred Colin Firth and Anette Being). I am not saying that all these movies are horrible because they are carbon copies of films earlier but that writers need to come up with some original ideas or at least creatively mix.

Disturbia was a great movie, remake or not. But you do have a point. We keep remaking the classic movies. There won't be any classic movies in 60 years that were made in this time because so many of the movies now were remakes. I aree with you that Fatal Attraction and the origional Departed were the best. Not to mention all the Batman, Superman, Clue, and Amityville Horror movies they remade/.

Disturbia was a good movie but the theatre experience was horrible! A Friday night for a pg-13 movie with teenage screaming girls... not my favorite. I agree with you about the fact that movie producers need to come up with more ideas, for example ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. Fantasic movie!! See it and you'll see all originality. Nothing like it.
