What Our Country SHOULD Be Worried About

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

Why is our country so busy with the Iraq War, when their are so many people in Africa starving and dying of disease? We are so busy massacring the Iraqi people, and covering up our search for oil with the stupid WMD excuse, that we don't even notice that there are bigger fish to fry. We should be spending our time and money on disease research and feeding the poor.

Also, everyday our worlds forests are being cut down to make room for homes. We don't need more homes, we need to be happy with what we have. Without the forests, our oxygen becomes thinner. We lose our protection from sun radiation, and floods become more prominent. We need to put more of our worry into saving the worlds resources.

I would like anyone who cares to post new ideas for saving our world. Ending world hunger, saving the rainforests, cure for cancer, whatever. I would love to here your ideas. I will post some of my own ideas too. My hope is that we can, as a country, appeal to our leaders to turn their attention to more important matters. Please help in my endeavor. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated and if we get enough people we can make a difference.

And no rude comments from people who don't want to help. Sorry but I have to say it.

I dig yer ideals. Treehugger.com always has new ideas that you can latch onto. Granted, this is sort of a feel good advertisement, it made me smile today (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmtjQPMjm1k)

You can never end world hunger, everyone who believe that they can, is chasing a loaded pipe dream.

That isn't a rude comment btw, it is a fact.

We do need more homes, however there are places that you can build that aren't where there are tree's. And if you cut down a tree to build a home, replant it. That is what major developers are doing now, so there is stuff going on. However with an every growing world population, houses will have to be built unless you're implying we start to live in stone age huts...which would use wood anyway. And there is enough plant life in the sea to sustain living on the Earth if all the trees were to be cut down. Sun radiation is blocked by the ozone and the atmosphere, the trees just block out the sun.

We're really not looking for oil. Our involvement is far more complex than simple things like oil and WMD's. I agree we need out, but that also means we need out everywhere. If private American charities want to help Africa, I am all for it, but right now, we've pissed off enough people that we do not need to be sticking our noses in other people's business.

Our country should be worried about a multitude of things, including the environment, but there are soo many things to worry about than just a few of them.

I see so many people throwing away or throwing out pennies like it's nothing. Maybe if everyone could collect pennies, they could send them over to the other side of the world that is hungry. But we in America are beggining to be hungry also . Many of our charities are not getting enough funds donated to them. Maybe if companies could take $10.00 out of all of our paychecks, 5 could go to the U.S. and the other could go to the other countries. This would be great but there also is another problem. Many people in America believe that if they are not starvingor broke, why should they care. If you have to take $ 10 dollars from our paychecks, that will kill us because we need that for lunch money or to go get a new shirt.

You make a good point about our people caring to little about the small things like pennies. We waste to much money perfecting our own lives when we should be making room for people who can't have what we do.

Our countries biggest problem with charity is that we go about it the wrong way. Rather than teaching third world countries how to grow there own food and deter pollution, we just throw out a couple dollars, give them a hamburger. It lasts them like a day and then their hungry again. Wheres the sense in that.

They teach the recipients of their animals how to use them for income, rather than just slaughtering and eating them. We always donate beehives, because the bees make honey and wax, the recipients learn how to make candles, process honey, and run a business. And the bees are good for pollinating crops, too.

Thank you. I was wondering if you disappeared at first. But yes I have been homeless before and went to many shelters and food banks. They never tell you how to get back on your feet the right way. They just give you the food and try to get you a apartment and thats it.
