I recently found out I need yet another eye surgery. I really do not mind all the surgery, but I wish it could just be over with.
I developed a cataract in my left eye soon after I was born. It then developed into glaucome and I lost most of my vision. When I was young my doctor tried to make me wear a patch on my right eye( the eye I can see out of) in order to increase my vision in my left eye. I hated it because it was so hard for me to see in the left eye. Eventually I lost all my vision in my left eye. Throughout my life I have had at least 12 surgeries to try to get rid of the glaucoma, but none have been succesful. A few years the pain got so bad that i collapsed and passes out at a high school footbball game. My eye doctor then decided it would probably be best if I got my eye removed since I had no vision in it anyways. Sooo now I have a fake eye. I have to get another surgery now because the fake eye is alittle too small and they want to add extra fat in my eyelid to fill it out.
If you have any questions for me about me eye definitly feel free to ask. I have no problem talking about it.

Wow! I am really sorry! ITs horrible that you were born like that. Can people tell that it is fake when they look at it? or is it pretty realistic looking?
Its actually really realistic looking. When they made it they had me sit for several hours so they could copy my other eye exactly. People often don't believe me when I tell them its fake. They eventually believe me when I poke it and I'm fine haha.
Wow! Well, I think that it is cool that people cannot tell. I would rather see you poke fun at yourself, sorry about the cliche, than other people!
wow. I can totally relate. When I was 10 I had internal bleeding in my right eye then I developed a cataracht and got glaucoma in it. Just recently I had an internal bacterial infection & lost the little vision I had remaining. Sometimes i have pain in my right eye and my doctor has told me that I should not hesitate to get a fake eye if I need to. What I'm wondering is, whether or not the fake eye drifts. Like, right now since my right eye is blind it looks kind of like a lazy eye. I was wondering if I would still have that if I got a fake eye.
I have decided to look into removal of my eye. I am legally blind in it and have been since the age of 13. I am now 40. The pain I have in my eye sometimes is quite unbearable. My questions are:
Do you have pain from your fake eye? I know there is probably some "getting use to" pain.
What all is involved in the eye removal and getting a fake one? Is there hardware installed into the eye to hold the eye in place?
Thank you
Ron
