Healthy Body = Healthy Mind

The local elementary school no longer offers a nutrional class for students to take. When I heard this I was surprised and alarmed. With the rise of childhood obesity I didn't think this a wise choice for the school to make. Furthermore, I live in a wealthy district so I doubt if money was an issue in canceling the class. Nutritional classes should be offered at every school starting at an early age. Kids are often left alone while parents work and they need to know how to make healthy eating choices. I also don't understand why gym has disappeared from so many schools. I know that many can't afford it. However, I thought the government would be more interested in providing funds for it. Besides, if No Child Left Behind were to live up to the phrase wouldn't that equate into kids having healthy bodies to develop healthy minds?

I don't know what you mean by "below the fold". I did edit it a little. Hope it helps.

My guess is that there were not enough students taking the nutritional class or the teacher there is lacking. As for gym, I don't see why money would be the issue to sustain gym. All you need to do is to get kids moving their bodies. They can run, play tag, and other things. A room or a park would be enough. Perhaps a $0.99 ball would be enough for kids to play soccer together. I'm beginning to think schools don't care about kids' health anymore.

I think you're right about the cost of gym. When it comes down to it it shouln't cost much. I guess schools feel they have to hire a gym teacher and maybe they can't afford it? I don't know. It's said though. Too many kids sit on the butts all day long.
