Paramount Pictures is getting ready to start production on the newest Star Trek movie which will feature Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock in their days at Star Fleet Academy. This will be the first Star Trek movie to come out since Star Trek: Nemesis which was released in December 2002. So far, the cast list has been under wraps though it has come out today that Leonard Nimoy will play the older version of Spock and it is rumored that Zachary Quinto will play the younger version of the character. I'm not really sure what to think about this latest development. I haven't heard anything about William Shatner coming back and playing the older version of Kirk yet. Anyone else have any feelings about the movie, the young Mr. Spock actor, or about who should play the young Captain Kirk? I can't really think of anyone who could play the younger version of him, but I guess since it's Star Trek, they'll find someone who will fit the part. I guess my vote would go for Zac Efron to play Kirk.

The only rumor I've heard about this is that they've asked Justin Timberlake to play the role of young Kirk... but I haven't heard if he's accepted and I don't know how valid that is.

I think they should have stuck with Nemisis being the last movie--they are going to destroy something very, very sacred!! It's like toying with thelyron radiation--not cool. And dangerous to the extreme.

I think that Justin Timberlake playing the young Captain Kirk would be a disgrace to the Star Trek Community. The fans deserve better...plus, he's too old to play Captain Kirk if he's supposed to be at the academy. I think they need someone younger to play him...a Trekkie fan or someone who would help get the younger generations into it. As to Star Trek Nemesis, I think that they should either call it good with the TNG crew or bring Data back. The writers for this movie are foolish by trying to do the pre captain days of Kirk. How is life at Starfleet Academy supposed to be interesting? Maybe they'll show his legendary Kobiashi Maru test or something. I do believe that if Paramount wants to make more Star Trek movies, they should make some with the Voyager crew. That would be exciting.
