The bonfire of Vanities is an event first inspired by Sandro Botticelli
in February of 1497. He and many others publicly burned items deemed
to either inspire sin or were in fact sinful in content. Florence, Italy first
demonstrated this festive occasion during their own Shrove Festival which
is actually and simply enough pancake Tuesday. A culmination of Anglicans,
Lutherans and some Protestant faiths including denominations in Canada,
New Foundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The whole event of bonfires and pancakes eventually graduated with
increasing French and Catholic immigrants,as well as, German based nationalities
and Polish immigrants as well to be known as Mardi Gras in New Orleans Louisiana.
A bonfire of vanities is in effect burning now within the United States 510 years
later as rights of the average American citizens are being haphazardly flung into the
fire. Everyday rights and liberty's are lost in the United States. Business and large
corporations are a huge part of this occurrence. Dictator mimicking corporations such
as Wal-Mart want a virtual history in entirety of potential applicants. Manufacturing
plants that produce a productfor say General Motors have stringent rules and policy
concerning potential hiring of an employee. When asked about these guidelines of
concern most comment that they are necessary safeguards to insure the quality and
integrity of the product they produce.
So what does long hair tied back and neatly oriented have to do with this policy?
What does my religious belief have to do with my employment application?
It has to do with stereotyping. Bigotry. The imposing of a person's wayof thought
upon another. If you are not like me then you do not work for me. Sounds similar to a
speech I heard a while back ironically enough from a president who seems to share this
short sighted vision as well.
This all leads to what do we do about it.
How do we stop a machine that is vital to our existence and still acquire the revenue
we all need to sustain our way of life?
It is said that the protection of our way of life is occurring in Iraq and yet we lose a
piece of it on a daily basis.
How can a country claim freedom and take it at the same time?
How can people stand by and watch it happen?
I saw a video a month or so ago of a mid-20's year old man beating a 91 year old
WW2 veteran for his car and wallet while 4 or 5 people in the background watched and
called police on their sorry ass cell phones! This is America and very representative of it.
These are the people that are going to run to people like me screaming "Save me!" when
all hell breaks loose. These will be the people that will die in the streets of chaos because
people will remember how they were before they needed saving. Before the chaos people
meant nothing as they counted their money boldly in the checkout flashing it at less fortunate
behind them and giggling as if they were better and in tune with the way of the world.
Wiley in their expertise and retarded in the reality of things.
A huge bonfire of vanities will burn again sooner than most think and it'll hopefully be
fueled by vanity itself.
