Blogging. It's been around for a while now. And I've just finaly joined countless people in blogging. Sure there's a journal on the art sight www.Deviantart.com which I post in but thats mostly just updates and information about the next peoce of writing I plan on submitting. sure I go off on tangents of personal reports on occasion, but I wouldn;t call that blogging. But here I am now. Signed up on a blogging website filling out my first blog. It's weird when you think about it. The whole blogging hobby and subcuture. Questiong like where did the name Blog pop up and whose idea was this in the first place. But the thinig I find myself asking most is "Why Blog?" It's similar to keeping a personal journal I suppose. a chance to write down your thoughs feelings and just random whatever. But theres a distinct difference in recording things in a personal journal and posting them on the internet for all to see. Traditionaly with a journal or diary it was a private thing you didn't want people to see. What was written was between you and the paper. Sictoms loved to use the over done plot of so&sogetting whatsherface's diary and reading it. Theres an argument or confrontation and then they reconcile and are closer now then before the infringement on personal buisness was made.

Then you have Blogging. inner thoughs and ideas and manytimes just random "this is what I did today" are posted on the information super highway for all with a working compter and an internet connection to see. Gone is the tradition of hiding the littlw book under a pillow or mattress and getting annoyed at your little brother/sister from finding it and reading it. Complete strangers half a world away can check in and read your entries. People can even leave comments to let you know what what they think of the topic of your post.

So why Blog? WHy the switch from hideing your inner thoughts and feelings away from the world in personal little book to sharing them on a previously constructed website with a world of strangers withthe possibility of people you know reading them as well? Is t a desire to be heard in a sea of people all with their own stories to tell? Is it an attempt to record part of yourself down to  leave a mark on the world even when your physicly long gone? WHo knows. People do it, all for their own reasons both concious and subconciously. I do it just to write, I really don;t care if people read my writing or not. It's a little addicting I'm sure and when it comes down to it, theres a lot worse you could be doing.

I think part of the reason we have changed from writing in a book and hiding it away to blogging is in part because we have, as a society, become so computer/technology dependent. For many the thought of physically writing something as opposed to typing it out is just torture. I enjoy both blogging and physically writing things. Blogging is almost like a drug in a way. you think "oh no! i haven't blogged in a while, i better do that" then you become so involved in the site that time flies by and you forget about the other things in life. I know that, I have fallen victim to that many times.

I agree. So many people are focused with computers and technology these days. Its something you can get into and waste a lot of time on.

We are also intrigued in others thoughts, opinions, and ...just the lives of others in general.
Blogging makes it so much easier.

Oh I'm sure some people are addicted to blogs because they are able to find that they are not alone. There are people out there much similar to them in views and people who have experienced the same things that we areselves are currently going through. It's a need for interaction and while you would never be able to simply walk into most bars and begin pouring out your soul for some stranger and actualy have them take intrest or provide some sort of useful comment, you can find dozens of people who will treat you like and old friend and get into a conversation or offer support on the web. There's a ton of reasons for blogging and I bet a phsychologist or someone studying psych would have a feild day analyzing and coming up with their own theories on blogging. For the rest of us it's just an interesting passtime. Thanks for commenting on my first blog :)
