Holy Smokes, is it real this time? Karl Rove was indicted!

Read this from the Wayne Madsen Report:

WMR can report tonight on more details concerning the confusing reports regarding Karl Rove and Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald from last Friday. WMR can confirm that the appearance of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales before the Grand Jury at the US Federal Courthouse in Washington was a formality in which the jury informed the Attorney General of their decision to indict Karl Rove. That proceeding lasted for less than 30 minutes and took place shortly after noon. Gonzales's personal security detachment was present in the courthouse during the Grand Jury briefing. From the courthouse, Gonzales's motorcade proceeded directly down Constitution Avenue to the Department of Justice.

According to sources within the Patton and Boggs law firm, Karl Rove was present at the law firm's building on M Street. WMR was told by a credible source that a Patton and Boggs attorney confirmed that Fitzgerald paid a visit to the law firm to inform Rove attorney Robert Luskin and Rove that an indictment would be returned by the Grand Jury against Rove. Contrary to other reports, some of which may have emanated from the Rove camp in order to create diversions and smokescreens, the meetings at Patton and Boggs did not last 15 hours nor was a 24-hour notice of intent to indict delivered to Rove. In the Scooter Libby case last October, after the Grand Jury decided to indict Libby on Friday, October 21 and the Attorney General personally heard the decision the same day at a meeting with the jury, the actual indictment was issued the following Friday, October 28. Several sources have told WMR that an announcement concerning the indictment of Rove will be made on Friday, May 19 generally following the same scenario from October 28, 2005 -- the posting of the indictment on the Special Prosecutor's web site followed by a press conference at Main Justice.

AND isn't this interesting.

Yesterday, it was Salon who sent out some major signals that Jason Leopold was not reliable.

Today, William Pitt who originally published Leopold's information came out with this statement.

It would probably be a good thing for the health and welfare of this community for everyone to stop beating the shit out of each other over this Rove story. This goes for me, too. I just got into a snipe-fest in another thread, and immediately felt stupid about it.

Those who have stood with truthout are owed a massive river of thanks. Your faith will be rewarded.

Those who have expressed doubts,

Interestingly enough, I spoke to another source who attempted to confirm the Truthout story, and this anonymous source said, "Fitzgerald's office is locked tight.  They intend to maintain the strict sanctity of the SECRET grand jury."

Though waiting is hard work, I'm so happy to see Patrick Fitzgerad's  respect for the rule of the laws in our land that Kenneth Starr found so difficult to give.

So...I guess we're on the wait and watch regime again.

In the meantime, it is important for us to remember that as bloggers we are doing our work because the TRADITIONAL MEDIA has failed us.  Whether this means one more frenzy over possible indictment... at least there's interest in the story!  We have yet to see true fairness and journalism from the same media outlets who criticize us for our enthusiasm.

Hold tough Fitz-watchers!  Eventually, our day WILL come(soon, if these sources are right!)

From the Salon article

Maybe Ash is right. Maybe we'll learn this week that Leopold has been right all along. Maybe Fitzgerald really asked the grand jury to indict Rove last year; maybe Rove has already been indicted; maybe Fitzgerald really did spend "about 15" hours in Luskin's office Friday; maybe two other government officials really were indicted last year with Libby, and somehow we just haven't heard about it yet

I'll be very curious to see where Roves career goes after the disaster that his policies have created...

If he goes to jail, then his carreer will be in the kitchen which is highly appropriate given the way he excells at cooking up schemes and sets fires here and there.

If he doesn't get indicted and/or he is found not guilty then he'll head the RNC officially.

Karl Rove Indicted? Jason Leopold and Truthout Take on Rove and the White House
By Joshua Frank

Jason Leopold should be used to it. He’s been the target of media assaults for years now, really ever since he began breaking stories about Enron’s fiascos and the California energy crisis as a writer for Dow Jones Newswire. If you don’t know who I am talking about, well then you’ve probably been hiding under a rock these past few days.

thanks kat....

I noticed that no other sources are confirming this Madsen Report either. Either Madsen (and thus you) scooped them or it's anther false report.

I find other things interesting too. Like Rove's brazen appearance the other day. Either he couldn't cancel or he was giving Fitz and the bloggers the finger.

Can't wait to see...

I noticed yesterday's google alert was full of the neocon smears. Although not all were neocons. Some were just infighting for those worried about the credibility of blogs.

New thread.

I still find all this highly suspicious, especially considering Leopold's dubious past and the fact that he's a "blogosphere" (how I detest that coinage!) journalist. Sorry, folks, I have to stick with Thomas Friedman on this one: if you go to work in your pajamas, you're probably not going to have all the best sources.

Also, if Rove really were indicted, why is Jason Leopold the only person who knows about it? Rove's indictment was supposed to have come back yesterday. It's difficult for me to believe that of all the accredited, prize-winning, best-connected journalists in Washington, a Guy on a Website with disputable credibility gets dibs on the scoop.

I'm going to be happy to be proven wrong, but so far, Leopold's story just doesn't hold up.

By the way, Bethany McLean broke the story on Enron. But that little bitty violates the cult of personality, so let's just ignore it.

Leopold's dubious past! Have you researched Roves?

Now that's dubious!

That doesn't excuse the fact that Leopold is asking us to believe in something pretty far-fetched without giving us any evidence to back his claims. In fact, all the deadlines he promised ran out.

Well, I'm inclined to wait and see if something happens by the end of this week. Then sadly, I might end up agreeing with you.

Well, it's already three PM in D.C. I doubt anything will come of the day. They've got two hours left until all public work ceases. And indictments usually happen in the morning.

I hope. I hope...

One of my progressive co-workers promise to buy me a drink if Rove gets in indicted today... I've got my ear pressed to the radio waiting for the news. It's a total black-out on information, even on AAR. The news guy even reported on that Run-away Bride bimbo (with the crazy eyes?) and her fiance from whom she had run, breaking up. THAT'S NOT NEWS! But I guess when you're desperate to report on anything other than the possible-Rove indictment.

In the mean time, they've found Jimmy Hoffa... but Osama is nowhere to be found.

so what does this mean.

Truthout is still standing by it's story. Wow!

Msn recently hinted that it'd be coming soon too.
