The sixth annual American Cancer Society's Arlington Relay for Life takes place this weekend at Peirce Field behind Arlington High School.
This year will see some of the teams that have become a regular part of the event, including Mrs. Shu's Shoes, named for Marie Schuler, a Dallin School fourth-grade teacher who died after a battle with breast cancer on Sept. 11, 2001. Already the team has raised more than $6,000.
Then there are the new teams like Bianchi's Buddies, which we profiled in this week's paper. The team is named for Danny Bianchi, an Ottoson Middle School student who is battling cancer. Led by the Arlington Boys and Girls Club, the team has raised close to $3,000.
I thought this was nice to read. I am glad people are contributing their time and money to this cause. This is just in one town too. If more towns did things like this, there would be a lot of money for many organizations. I wish my town was more pro active.
