The War Overseas

The war overseas currently had to be one of the most controversial issues we've faced in a long time.  Opinions vary from decreasing troops, increasing troops, increasing troop support, not being overseas at all, to some people not even supporting the troops.  I feel it is a constant back and forth arguement of opinions that will not end because its human nature to believe what you believe.  Is it right or wrong to be over there?  Can we pull the troops out or cant we?  In my opinion if we could pull the troops out then i would be totally for it because my brother is over in iraq right now for his second deployment, his first deployment he was shot so the reality is more with me this time of the dangers he faces every day over there.  However i know that we can not pull the troops out because that would not accomplish anything.  Iraq would be left still in poverty and recovering from damage the continuing war.  Insurgents would view the withdraw of troops as a success and to use there new power to grow and spread insurgency across other nations increasing terrorism not only in america but every other nation.  The more than 3000 troops that have lost their lives in this war would have died for nothing.  I feel the recent troop increase is both bad and good, bad in that thats more troops risking their lives for George Bush's "clouded cause" for why we are in iraq, good in that the troops that are over there have extra support to get the job done.  Im entitled to my opinion just like your entitled to yours.  This is not meant to cause more controversy and arguement, i just ask that everyone supports the troops no matter what your view because they are over there now risking their lives for us, if you dont feel they are risking their lives for us but just doing george bush's dirty work then look back to september 11th, its one of the reasons that started the whole afghanastan/iraq deal.  Our troops are over there now protecting us from future september 11th attacks.  So support the troops no matter what your view,  If you were risking your life for others you would appreciate there support to, I feel the only way this controversy is going to end is with time.  Its not something thats going to end today or tomorrow, maybe not even 5 years from now.  It may be a long time from now when we see the end to this but if thats what it takes then thats what has to happen.

I'll be writing a blog about this in due time, as part of the series I'm going to start today, but I think that this is one of the things that years from now, people are going to look at and analyze in a completely different way. I recently read a book in which the main character inadvertently destroyed an entire society (of aliens). He thought he was only playing a game and ended up destroying them. At the time, everyone thought it was the greatest thing in the world. Then the same character is 3000 years after the event (due to relatively and traveling at light speed), and everyone condemns him for the biggest genocide in the history of mankind. It's a rather interesting look at things. But I digress. Hope you enjoy your stay at ProU.
