I don't know how progressive this is, but to me, it seems like it is.
This year for my Senior Prom, my date and I are entering for the Stuck At Prom Scholarship given out by Duck Tape.
I like to believe I'm an artistic person when it comes to every form of art there is. Writing, Acting, Singing, Music, Drawing. Art in general.
I think this isn't progressive for, you know, the outside world. But I'm showing off my own progress I guess, as an artist. This duct tape gown needs to be finished in about 3 months. It needs to be good enough to win, and aside from the gown, there needs to be a duct tape tux for Mark.
I think having a project is going to help me to grow as an artist. It's a challenge I've never attempted. I've never made my own clothes, let alone, clothes out of duct tape. So this should really test my artistic ability. It's a stretch but if I think of it as another easy to do craft, hopefully that's what it will become. The money I'm spending in duct tape is going to be insane, but I think if I can get enough friends to donate a roll of duct tape, I'll be in okay shape.
Like I said, I don't know how progressive this is for the rest of the world, but I'm making progress as an artist, so I figured "that's progressive enough to write about."
However, in all of this a friend of mine said I was crazy and "stupid" to ruin my prom experience like this.
Do you really think it's dumb to make a beautiful dress of duct tape and win a $3000 scholarship for me and just plain ol $3,000 for Mark? I think that's a good thing to try and go for, don't you?
Any opinions? Stupid and ruining prom experience? Or Awesome and Enhancing prom experience while possibly winning $6,000 total?

i would seach images on google or something to see for ideas and to compare other gowns. I think thats a cool idea not to many people would probably compete since its proms. Good Luck :)
I tried that last year. We did cloth under tape. It was pretty fun! We didn't win (you've got to make something AMAZING to win). Good luck.

It's fun, it's creative, and you're right, (if you win) you get a $3,000 scholarship! That is progressive, and yea, it's crazy, but it's NOT stupid. Who ever thinks that it would ruin your prom experience needs to get a grip on reality. It's just a dance, and you're making it more interesting with your future in mind!
I don't think it it stupid. If anything, it would make prom even more fun. If you're creative enough, you could make your dress really cool and stand out. Besides, nobody would have the same dress as you!
I agree. I don't see how doing what you want to do would ruin your prom. There's more to life than competing with everyone else's dress.
