Osama Bin Laden again has come forward vowing to never be caught alive. He claims that the United States has "resorted to the same "barbaric" tactics used by Saddam Hussein" However, Bin Laden's 11-minute 26-second tape has created quite a problem for President Bush. By using the language he has to describe Hussein, Bin Laden has denied that Hussein had any connections to the terrorist group Al-Qaida. Wait a minute, didnt we enter Iraq and go after Hussein becuase we thought he was connected to Al-Qaida? I get it now. We made our claims that Iraq had WMD and we didnt find them, we claimed that the former Iraqi leader was in connection to Al-Qaida. Now we find out that may not be true. So awnswer me this...Why are we in Iraq?

You really want the reason why Bush invaded Iraq?
The answer to this question is twofold.
1) It was suggested to him that if he really wanted the Presidency, he would HAVE to find a way to wage war on someone.
Approximately every 15 to 20 years the U.S.A. has since the ending of WW11, found some excuse to wage war on some nation/people.
The Military Industrial combine needs continual funding, wars are the only sure way that this funding can be obtained, MASSIVE infusions of TAX DOLLARS, always under the pretext that this country's freedom is under attack, be that from Communists, Terrorists or whatever excuse can be used.
2) Mr. Bush is devoted to his family and in particular his Father.
Saddam Hussein attempted via assassins to take his Father's life after he (Saddam Hussein) was publicly humiliated by his defeat in what he termed was (The Mother of all battles) in the Gulf war.
The decision to make that war with Iraq was obviously Oil related, it has been long known that extremists had been attempting to take over the reins of power in Saudi.
Thus as Saudi Arabia was and still is an ally of the U.S.A. it would not be wise to attack that country.
He could not attack Iran (much as he would have liked to) as Iran had very close relations with Russia and attacking Iran might have escalated into a world war.
Syria (Well known for over 30 years as being the main hub for Terrorist attacks on the Western World) has little to no Oil, also to have attacked Syria which was & still is a client state of Russia would have been fraught with danger.
There was no other country except Iraq that he could have attacked.
Yes, Iraq had, at one time had MSD, at the time of the attack this was so patently untrue, but S.H. played into Bush's hands by his refusal to let the wepons inspectors into Iraq or by balking their investigations at every chance.
Iraq, being run by a Dictator could not possibly have allowed or pemnitted any Terrorist organization onto it's land.
So excuses had to be cherry picked out of the information that intelligence services had gathered.
Think of it like this.
Whenever a film company wants to encourage people to see a film they have made, their Publicist takes all the reviews and cherry picks so as to give a favourable impression of the film.
Example:
This film has to be one of the finest ways not to make a film, this reviewer has ever seen.
BECOMES,
This film has be one of the finest this reviewer has ever seen.
This is called cherry picking.
well then, that was very in depth and I think you for that comment. and to think i voted for him in the second election
What reasons backed your 2004 vote for Bush? It just seemed so clear to me at the time that he was a lying puppet (and still is). I am curious to understand the other side of things.
