I am a senior class officer and we are in the middle of making the desision about what color our graduation gowns will be. It is complicated, but it is not so because of all the different opinions in the matter. It is complicated because of 2 opinions. These two people threw a temper tantrum when we decided as a majority to get one color instead of two, and when they did, i thought of something.
Some people have overactive opinions and they cant help but voice them, but when it gets annoying is when they think that their opinion is the only one that matters. Dont get me wrong, i love hearing different opinions and i have enough of them to go around, but i dont like listening to people who think that they are always right and will not compromise when making a decision.
My parents do this too. They will get in arguements over something and each of them will have a different opinion. It irritates me because all they have to do is share the entire opinion and share their reasoning. This will create a compromise and they would never argue about opinions ever again.
Why is this so hard for some people to grasp? maybe it is because we have become so used to having the right to an opinion that we have forgot that all priviledge comes with responsibility. We have the responsibility to listen to others opinions if we want to voice our own, and this responsibility has been lost with some people. ANd what is worse, we tend to listen to those people because their voice is louder than the crowd's. Some people's voices are louder because they have a good opinion, but others are loud becaue they think they are the most important. By doing this, they step on others voices and tune them out.
When did this outgoing rudeness become so popular in people and why are others drawn to these people when they just tend to snuff out your opinion before it has the chance to grow. We all need to consider others opinions and they need to consider ours. If we dont, then we are screwing up our world and adding complications that shoudl never appear in the first place.
