Every night, the world laughs to the rich humor of famous comedian, Stephen Colbert. His sadistic views on current events, and his ironic speeches grabs at the brighter side of our lives. Colbert has spoken across the states, he runs his own show (The Colber(t) Repor(t) *t's are silent*), and even spoke at President George Bush's White House Correspondents' Dinner. (MUCH to Bush's Woe...)

Colbert slammed President Bush... Three feet away on national television...

With the upcoming presidential elections however, Colbert has made a startling announcement to the world. Colbert will run for president in 2008. Yes, he will run against all the major players for the race to the White House. Incredibly, Colbert insists that this is not a joke, but that he DOES in fact intend on running for president under both the Republican and Democratic tickets. "After nearly 15 minutes of soul searching, I have heard the call," Colbert said. "Nation, I will seek the office of the president of the United States."

This event took place on the 16th of October. Now, less than a week after his announcement, Colbert has more supporters on sites like Facebook, and Myspace than Hillary Clinton. Some estimate that if Colbert does indeed run for president, that he will wipe the board. The Presidential debate will become the stomping grounds of Colbert, and the 2008 Elections will be one to be remembered forever. Many insist that they will vote for Colbert simply in the hope that he will go up against Hillary Clinton in the Debate.

Running as "South Carolina's Favorite Son", Colbert has rallied a massive and unheard of mass of supporters to his cause. But would Colbert be a great president? Some say he would be the Greatest. The Colorado State board is reported as saying, "There will surely be naysayers that point to Colbert's lack of political experience or to the fact that he's a comedian. To those detractors, we only have this to say: We usually end up voting jokers into the White House anyway. It would be nice to have somebody that's at least honest about it for once.”

Colbert has yet to officially declare his stance on any major topic in debate for the Election, but at this point, does he really need to?

Colbert for President? Put "truthiness" in the White House? Perhaps Colbert is just what this country needs: Someone blatantly honest.

The only question I have is: "Knowing Colbert, what will happen to diplomatic relations?"

""There will surely be naysayers that point to Colbert's lack of political experience ..."" In asociety where politicians lie & disregard issues because they might hinder their chance of reelection, wouldn't someone who has never been a politician wonderful?

Legislation isn't that hard & I'm sure half our representatives don't even understand the entire process so why should that be held against him?

I hope he runs ... that would be fun.
