My Husband

Having been a first generation college student, with little knowledge on the outside world, and hailing from a rural area, I would have to say it is my husband who has aided me the most in realizing my potential, thus impacting my life. At age 19 I was married, to another first generation college student, but one who had a little more experience with the world. He urged me to pursue a better institution, think about graduate school, and push myself to my limits. Prior to meeting him I was getting by, attending a very low tier school, and just doing enough. With his help, I have succeeded in attending Agnes Scott College, number 63 in the United States for liberal arts school, and in the top 10 for the Southern region, began discourse with my professors, thus becoming more integrated within academia, and more understanding of the culture. Though my parents are working poor, and his mother died when he was twenty, leaving him nothing, he has worked, being now a high school teacher, in order to support my dreams of finishing college and going on to graduate school. It is because of his drive, his determination, and his love for me, that I am able to find my drive, push myself, and find myself. In all of that, he has been the reason that I believe in myself, and has impacted my life greatly.

Wow, that's actually a really inspiring story. I'm so glad you met your husband, he sounds like an amazing person, and I hope things continue to go well for you, you should be proud for all that you've accomplished!

There are a lot of couples out there who end up having one succeed and the one ends up in the background, im glad that he is pushing you, make sure your pushing him, even if he doesn't seem like he needs pushed. It sounds like you he has been an inspiration to you. Make sure he's not your only inspiration and motivation though.
