Why do musicians have to be so mello-dramatic/ O and punks are crazy

Let's start by saying that Greenday could be considered a popular band that really made it into publicity. Now mny people would classify them as punk, so when a prep hears and likes the band they think well ain't I a bad ass i like punk. Sadly this blog isn't about those people it is about the real punks. The people who followed Greenday found they started out playing in an underground Punk bar (which i can't remember the name of). Now Greenday was actually seen there and then they were given a recording deal and the rest is history, they got famous and lived happy ever after. BUT, when Billie Joel and Mike Dirnt went back to that Punk Bar they were out casted and asked to leave. You see it everywhere... people down casting someone or something for actually being succesful. What? you can't share good music with other people. I enjoy Greenday but im not really a Punk-ish dude. So I would have most likely got my ass kicked andthrown out for even thinking of entering that place. In all honesty it is a different kind of Elitism that shows the true hipocrasy(sorry no spell check) of some people. And im sorry i am a huge Nirvana fan and i would like to know why the hell Kurt Cobain was so depressed about being popular. He should have decided to stand on a front and keep to it wether it was popular or not. If you want your music or your actions to mean something than make them mean something... the people who listen shouldn't matter to the artis sadly it isn't truly about the fans (though they do really help) it's about the artist. The artist is the one directing the action, the one who gives his opinion. Isn't all the crap just unneccesary?
(also please tell me if any of my ideas are conflicting i'm kind of new at this and would like to clear up things)

Green Day really changed their sound after kerplunk, though. I think they alienated their original fan base when they changed.

Actually Greenday has always been kind of soft in the Punk style
they were made fun of alot but their last cd was just pathetic
though them and blink 182 did predict the new era of emotional and sad songs just look at boulevard of broken dreams
the onlly song i liked on that album was St.Jimmy

as my favorite four-yr old punk friend Andrew is famous for yelling (yes, I really do know a baby punk...he's amazing!)

Anyway, I agree that it is really hypocritical that a punk bar would beat Greenday fans up and throw them out...the whole philosophy of a true punk is to be as inclusive as possible, or at least, that is how I perceive punk philosophy. We want to embrace all; we act out of love, not hatred...our violence is directed at oppressors, not at the other oppressed...

So yeah, that "punk bar" was being very "unpunk" unless of course, the dudes you mentioned where oppressing or hurting someone else while there, in which case they deserved to be thrown out.

As for Kurt Cobain being depressed; I'm not sure he wasn't already depressed before the fame...maybe the pressure of being famous just pushed him over the edge? Maybe being with Courtney Love pushed him over the edge, for that matter, whew, she'd probably push me over the edge...

Love ya,
Carrot
