British Soldier Abuse of Iraqi Civillians

Tagged:  •    •

A video was released last night showing British soldiers beating Iraqi civillians after a slight altercation. It has been played on Arab news networks, like Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, and British stations alike. I personally find this footage appalling and an abuse of power. It's worse than the Abu-Ghraib scandal to me. Now, supposedly, this footage was shot two years ago and is just now being released. If it was shot two years ago, then they sure took a while to find and view it. British military police have arrested one man, who they declined to identify, in connection with the video. They are looking for the others and Prime Minister Tony Blair has promised an investigation, which was backed up by a military spokesperson.

There are currently very bad relations between Iraqis and British soldiers in southern Iraq, where most of the British troops are located, especially in Basra where this video was shot. This video will do nothing to help the situation and I fear the Iraqis will eventually revolt against these so-called "liberators" causing our U.S. troops to come and aid the British, thus causing them to hate us. That is if they don't hate us already.

I agree 100%. Did the video have the commentray from the cameraman?

something needs to be done about this abuse of human rights in the world. someone needs to step up for the citizens of Iraq. They are people as well.

If it is true that Prime Minister Mr. Tony Blair PROMISED to look into this, then you can be assured that absolutely nothing will be done.
Mr. Blair has always been big on promises and minute on delivery.
My thoughts on Mr. Blair are that his name should actually be spelt: BLARE as that is mainly what he does.
All talk, no action.
