Humanity's Dark Side

When looking around one may notice that there is more pain and suffering in the world than imagined. Driving around town there are homeless people with cardboard sighs that ask for help. Some may say, " Have a family anything will help." or "Very sick and need some money." but while the sighs say things that seem so sad and horrible why is it that people's reactions are so odd. If you observe people when they see a homeless person, their reaction is beyond words. People see a homeless person on the street and they quickly click the lock button on their door as though that homeless person is going to attack when you pull up next to them. Some speed up when they see a homeless person like passing them a little faster will not let them see what horrible things are happening in the world. Why do we stereotype people?

Some people have opened up soup kitchens to help people that are homeless are not as well-off as others. The heart crushing part is that soup kitchens start to have days that they can only be open and can only feed so many people. Why, because less and less people are willing to volunteer their time. A person usually never thinks as a homeless person who just has a hard life and does not know how to make it better but we would rather jump to the conclusion that if we give them money they will spend it on booze. That person is homeless and probably not going to spend any money given to them on food or shelter but rather booze. It surprises me more and more how much we are unwilling to have faith in others. We have begun to questions people's motivates as if they are always wrong.

It is not just homeless people it's everyone. Why are human so cruel to one another and not willing help others out. Why do some people make other people's life worse by picking on them, why do we judge when we should not.

What ever happened to man was created equal. It seems that it has become a selfish and judgmental world.

It is not only homeless people that we treat wrong it is the fact that stereotypes exist. Some people belive that evey goth person in the world is bad. If they wear the dark makeup and listen to angry music than they must be disturbed. Many people will call them names and think that every single one of those goth people are going to cause trouble. We jump to the conculsion that if you are goth you must be a trouble maker and if you are homeless you must be an alcoholic.

What troubles my mind more is why do we teach kids at such a young age to judge and me rude to others. If you step into a elementary school you will see kids at such a young age picking on other kids. They are already making judgements and acting rude to people. Groups have already formed: the popular group, the nerds, the smelly kids and the outsiders. Why can't we stop judging and feel for one another.

We all know that life can be hard and it does not always offer what was promised to us but why do we feel the need to put others down to get ahead in life.

My request is not to throw money at every homeless person you see or to go work in a soup kitchen when every you have a free moment but to stop judging and open your eyes. We have become cruel to one another and have hatred towards people we do not even know.

It seems that people are becomming so selfish that they will do anything to get ahead in life. Think about people who urge people to accept the idea of recycling or world peace yet they do nothing about it. They preach and preach about making the world a better place and to many people it is appealing but at the end of the day why do they do nothing but preach. They ask for everybody to come together and stop global warming and than they drive off in a new 2008 hammer when they are only one person. Why is it that people fill the need to have power in their life to the point where they walk over everybody else.

We are all human. We all have our differences, our rough times, our happy times, and some are less fortunate than others but we need to come together somewhere in life. We can not preach and complain about things that are happening in the world when we are not willing to do anything about it. We can not change anything until we come together and stop judging but rather believe in each other.

Why are we so cruel to each other, why do we find it necessary to put other people down to get ahead in life or make our selves better.

The answer is nowhere to be found. It could be in our natrual to be cruel at times or we have a right to judge people but when do we say, "Stop" and start helping each other out. When do we no longer look at a person's apperance and decided if they are worthy of our time. When have we become so lazy that we are not willing to be nice because of appearance and stereotyping, loose the lables. Just look at each other as humans who are trying to live life. Everybody needs help at some point in their life.
So what do they do when they need help and they can not find it?

I just wanted to point out that near the end it got a little muddled.
As for stereotypes and putting other people down, people fear and hate things/people they don't understand. Stereotypes are a convienant way for some people to place others in a box so that they don't have to delve into what makes the other person so much different. As for poverty and homelessness, I think people look down on those in need because (and I'm not saying this is true for everyone-I'd certainly hope not) they feel that homeless people and people in extreme poverty are lazy and deserve everything they get.

Couple days ago I spent five hours hanging out with a bunch of homeless kids while they drew signs to wave at cars. Their signs were a bit more original, including "It is your responsibility to help the fragile world", "Hungry, Broke, Sober, and Single", and "Honk if you're horny, I'm a lesbian." They're more into entertaining people than getting money, we spent hours standing on street corners holding signs and laughing our heads off at the reactions (the responses to the lesbian ones were particularly amusing. I held it for about thirty seconds, and two random girls shouted, "Hey, I'm a lesbian too!" Though, the sign was meant for one of the guys. XD)
