I wrote this fabricated news story as a creative way to stress the importance of a strongly supported homeland security network and the importance of keeping a strong economy.
A time of annual anticipation of the New Year transformed into a devastating disaster as the glowing globe in Times Square erupted with forceful explosive energy last night, creating havoc and horror for the massive gathering of people celebrating the arrival of the fresh decade. The usual red, white, and blue confetti that normally alights over the gathering as a representation of the freedom of our great nation fell amidst the tumbling debris of singed ashes and rubble.
Tears of joy at the promise of dreams for the newly anticipated year immediately transformed into torrents of sorrow at the inevitable nightmare now facing the nation on one its most celebrated nights. Even intoxicated party-goers immediately sobered upon viewing the catastrophic countdown along with millions of viewers tuned-in to the yearly event.
Heightened local security did allow for a more organized evacuation, but only after a seizure of panic and devastation that gripped the crowd into a frozen state of fear were crews able to move the majority of people from the scene. The death toll is thought to be fairly minor with a supposed count of 250 out of the thousands of individuals who were in attendance. However, New York hospitals have been overrun with hundreds of additional victims suffering injuries ranging from minor burns to critical conditions. Fire fighters were on the scene and were able to squelch the flames in a timely manner, but an evaluation of the damage costs are yet to be determined.
Authorities have detained five suspects who are thought to be involved with the Underground Anti-Terrorist Allegiance (AUTA). The group was apparently started after the recent economic recession caused the Department of Homeland Security to make major budget cuts. The UATA is supposedly made up of former Homeland Security officials who lost their jobs after the considerable cuts. Their latest plan to instill the imminent importance of a strong homeland security network backfired however when they allegedly attempted to stage a terrorist attack that raced farther out of hand than they ever anticipated. It is not for certain whether the nation is more appalled at the extreme actions from the AUTA who claims to be greatly opposed to acts of terror or more grieved at the loss of 250 individuals and far many injured victims. However, one thing remains for certain: to those who have lost a loved one at the hands of this controversial group’s misguided actions, even the thought of one loss is far to great a tragedy to bear on this day that is meant to be brimming with new beginnings.

Heh...our government is about as corrupt now as it is in 2020, huh?

I would have to say that our society as a whole is not looking all that great lately.

Let's hope and pray it never deteriorates to that level.
We can only hope and pray....but sometimes I really wonder.

You really wonder what?
I wonder if the world will get any worse and how much worse it can get before Christ returns for His bride.
