While watching the news this morning I saw a clip of President Bush telling a reporter that he had not heard that gas could reach four dollars a gallon by summer. How out of touch with the world is he. Just my guess but he probably hasn't purchased a gallon of gas in ten years. How do we keep putting these guys in office? Why as a strong & prosperous nation can we not find someone somewhat related with the general public?
I keep hearing the talk that the economy is on the verge of crashing. I just wonder what we could do to the economy if we all just parked our cars for just one day out of the week. My guess is President Bush would then wake up and try to do something about the obviously out of control oil tycoons. At the present time he seems to be absolutely unaware of the great strain high gas prices put on the common family budget.
But of course Obama decided to capitalize on the fact that Bush didn't know. I guess my question to that is when did he purchase his last gallon of gas? Hillary obviously hasn't purchased any gas in at least twelve years! McCain actually looks like he might know how to pump gas but I'm sure he hasn't bought his own in a very long time also. Do you see where I'm going with this? They all are out of touch with us. None of them know what its like to get paid only to pay bills and have fifty dollars to last until next paycheck. While knowing that has to pay for gasoline also. Lets see the average car costs about $40.00 to fill up right now. I don't know about you all but I think something has to give!
Tell me how you feel about gas prices!

If you noticed, the reporters comment stunned the whole group of reporters. I've watched the news every morning and have yet to hear the analysts say that gas would get that high in the Spring.

No one's laughing though. Very true. Just because one reporter says that something is a fact doesn't mean it is. Come on! How long have you been around? Since when does what the media say have to be true? If anything, you might want to run off of the assumtion that it isn't true until you've heard it from several other sources. It's really hard to trust those guys, much less hold the president to whatever they say is the case...

considering the price of gas, you may actually want to look at congressional actions which continue to raise the taxes "on the rich", erroneously claiming that they are helping us... guess what... business 101 tells anyone that when costs rise (i.e. the gas companies), so do their prices to the consumers (i.e. me). next time you compalin about the price of gas, talk to your "compassionate" congressional leaders, not the prez.

I think that ProsteveVO may have missed DantheMan4250's major point. You are however right that the President isn't solely to blame. However it does mean something when the man actually is willing to stand up and criticize the big oil companies. It creates a stir which in hand causes people to think. I have never heard Bush say anything in our favor about gas prices. You sound as if you are defending the big oil companies in the since that I should feel sorry for them because there being taxed to much. Is that why some of them reported record high profits?
DantheMan4250 was trying to make a point that in general, from the President down Washington is out of touch with the general public. That would be why he talked about the other candidates and how long it had been since they purchased a gallon of gas.
Just maybe ProsteveVO if you would quit trying to defend your boy Bush then you could see the light in front of your face. Maybe gas prices are also high because we use millions of gallons in Iraq ever week!
