At my college, they've been spending millions of late on lots of new improvement that we don't really need. The english/math and science/mass comm. building are as old as dirt, and the equipment in them is ancient, but instead of building new buildings, my college spent some 2-4 million on adding to the foot ball field as well as coving it with turf and a huge school logo, as well as building a welded iron fence all the way around at least a hundred acres of the most prominent cow pastures. They're also building a new, bigger band hall, but event that could have waited, considering the fine arts building is the second-newest building on campus.
I hear my professors constantly discussing whether there will be money enough in the budget to get chalk for the rest of the year. They've already had to quit making plastic projections and use power-points instead because of cut-backs. WTF? Our football team is not that great, and neither is our band. Yeah, the campus is fairly impressive for a small school, but the day you start classes and see the sorry shape of most of the classrooms, you have to wonder where the hell the money is going. Also, they've raised the tuition little by little in the past five years, but when asked about all the building projects, the school administration always says that the money was donated. As if.
Thats my rant for today. I'll be writing an article about this for the school newspaper soon. Maybe I'll post it. Later, everyone.

man, i know exactly how you feel.
our dean pays himself about $800K a year, making him the sixth highest paid university president in the country---our school is not the sixth best school in the country, so i'm a bit concerned with that.
there's not enough student housing, a lot of the older buildings aren't in the best shape they could be in, and the campus generally leaves something to be desired, and yet last year they decided to spend $5 MILLION on a new fountain in our quad....why was the fountain so expensive? because it even came with sensors to detect wind speed so that if it was especially windy the water wouldn't shoot up as high! so useful!
>< so pretty much my school has some money managing issues too.

That's another thing I forgot to mention...how funny! They just built a huge fountain in front of our business building the same semester they closed down a dorm because it was unlivable. But they aren't building another one, and it's so crowded in the dorms, it's horrible.
Your dean needs a pay cut, BIG time.

You have a unique voice, so bravely verbalize your thoughts and opinions. The only person that can stop you is yourself.
i know, right!
plus maybe if his salary wasn't so overinflated, my tuition bill would be a lot lower. T_T
