Do we rely to heavily on electricity? That is the question and if it so happens that the answer is yes then what do we do to stop it. It is obvious that we rely on technology to much and eventually it is going to lead to a downfall. Think about it our lives run primarily on machines and computers. If you want to put money in a bank or take, money out you use the ATM’s, the teller behind the counter typing in some numbers for your account, or at the cash register. Medicine is highly surrounded by technology and getting newer machines and ideas every day because it saves lives. If the electricity went out in a hospital, it could cost an innumerable amount of lives. Technology runs our lives it’s that simple.
Hackers, it would then seem are on the top of the world. They can manipulate the computer to do what they want. They have perfected the art of getting around firewalls and breaking in to places, they were not meant to be. Does anyone see how this could harm our society? Without our technology, America would downgrade to the Stone Age. It would go from things as serious as people dying in the hospital because their ventilators shut off to someone cannot cook because the stove will not work. We use technology so heavily that we do not realize how much we rely on it. I am not saying that technology is bad far from that I know that it can work miracles for people and is the primary reason our society is so advanced. However, we are in for a great downfall. I feel like a preacher right now but it is true.
I believe technology is good but at the same time, I also believe that if we lessened our dependency on it that it would benefit us in the end. The Amish people seem to have a good stance on it I would say but I would not say that it is necessarily the right lifestyle for everyone. Amish believe that you should not use technology because of religious reasons. However, they understand that people need technology for medical reasons. Although they are not the elite of society, the Amish will be the ones spared if the power went out. They are intelligent people living in America today only they do not live as frivolously as the norm of society and I believe it is better. No that does not mean go out and try to convert to the Amish lifestyle just take a better mental note next time you use your computer. Better yet, take one day to write down all the technology you use or try to live without it for a day. It seems nearly impossible but when the time comes that there is a glitch in the system and everything shuts down we can be ready. Have a back up plan so to say. Do you really want to be the one to starve because you never learned how to use a can opener or something simple like that?

If the world was to experience a power outage almost everyone would not know what to do! I mean i don't even know how to use a can opener! I would probably starve to death! We as modernized people rely to much on electrical devices. We need to be prepared for anything.
