The current Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, says he may step down as the leader of Tibet if the protesters continue their violence. He had advised his people to be non-violent against the ethnic (Han) Chinese and that the Chinese should not treat the Tibetans like second-class citizens. Both Tibetans and Chinese have been killed by the violence. The Chinese Xinhua news agency said rioters set fires in more than 300 locations in Lhasa, Tibet's capital.
"If the Tibetans were to choose the path of violence he would have to resign because he is completely committed to nonviolence," Tenzin Takhla told reporters. The Dalai Lama does not want to gain independence from China. He believes they can work well together, but wants to protect their cultural hertiage. The Tibetans are flustered about the growing influx of Chinese into their region. The Dalai Lama believes that if China were to let Tibet be an autonomous region, they can be a whole nation.
Washington has encouraged Chinese leaders to reach out to the Dalai Lama, hoping they can resolve their issues.
The Chinese forces are trying to restrain the protests, but if the violence continues, the Dalai Lama may resign as a political figure. The Dalai Lama is exiled and spoke at a news conference in Dharamsala, India.

How exactly would his resignation help?
It will or would not help but safeguard,
If protestors don’t stop to mirror themselves to the violence that is inflicted upon them, they will lose and put in jeopardy everything they live and stand for.
The ones that are mirroring or responding to violence are crossing a line that damages the very core of their strength.
So if they don’t stop soon, the Dalai Lama is indeed wise enough to resign if things deteriorate.
The ones that follow the same principals in life while not responding to violence are now suffering on two sides or better say pains, making them even more vulnerable in regard to this conflict.
Their believe system itself is now under attack from within by those who are crossing the line within this structure of principal belief.
This brings to create an even bigger unbalance, because trauma instead of compassing or comprehension is now felt amongst the abusers making such more excessive violence will be inflicted.
To resign will keep the core of this belief system safe and respected trough history regardless of the future outcome of events.
The Dalai Lama is a wise man, amazingly enough, few seem to acknowledge what he could bring into this world.
Hopefully his message will come through and be heard by those in pain on both sides.
Violence is the very reason and core of their belief being so beautiful, because they know and are taught how to handle, face and endure it, now it has become affected with cancer.
Political hypocrisy will never win, the Dalai Lama is to wise…
It is possible and easy to break and destroy everything the Dalai Lama stands for, even his image, but never on a personal level.
That’s impossible and exactly what he is preventing to become.
A reality, present in life and dead…
