War with Ira-Who?

Wow.

Americans today just can't seem to get out of everyone else's business.

And it's all under the pretense of "helping" others and "making the world a better place."

The sad thing, we allow our government to get in all this foreign business under the excuse of "we are trying to protect our freedom and bring liberty to others around the world."

Are we really just going to stand back dumbfounded and let the government make up stupid excuses to galavant around the world, attacking countries for random reasons?

Old news: We are "at war" with Iraq, trying to get rid of all Saadam's men and start a democracy in Iraq.  Will a democracy really work there?  Probably not.  You can't just go into a religion-dominated nation and try to impose a government that is non-religion based.  It's like, Ok Muslims, forget your religion and vote! Yep, sounds like it'll be a success.

Now, old Georgie is after another IRA-country.

Ok, everyone, let's get prepared.  We are about 90% on the way of invading and declaring war on Iran.  Iran is wanting to create their own nuclear weapons, so here comes America!  We must invade, stop the evil Iranians, and protect American freedom.

But, how smart is it to suddenly declare war against a country that is experimenting in nuclear weapons?  Especially a country that has taught its people to hate Americans?

Sure, it may be dangerous that they have nuclear weapons.  But why do we need to go in and give them more of a reason to attack America.

I'm sorry George, but I live on the east coast, and I am uncomfortable with the idea that you might irritate Iran to the point of trying to blow up where I live.

Thanks.

Well said. Its curious how the elected officals never go over there in the front troops to help fight the war, instead they rather hide behind their desks and let others fight their battles for them.

Apparently you need to take some history lessons. America has every right to intervene anywhere around the world it chooses. Why? Because we were forced into wars in the past because nobody did anything to prevent it(including us). Now that we realize our mistakes of the past we will now prevent major WAR by destroying a potential enemy before they become to powerful.
It's easy to sit here and say we are war hungry and criticize everything this administraion does like so many ignorant people do...but I guarantee you'll be singin a different tune if you understood things better. Also you'll be blaming this administraion if the enemy finally became capable of attacking us and not doing anything to prevent it. WELL NOW WE ARE PREVENTING IT! Prevention is the best way.

That seems like the wrong mindset to me. Because we used to be in wars now we should fight any country that we have even the slightest suspicions about? Why - so the entire world can hate Americans even more than they do already? We are an arrogant nation who feels that everyone's business is our own and we can change the governments of dictatorships and other types of government all to democracy because, well, we think it's the best. Do the citizens of those countries even want us there? A lot don't.

What did we prevent with Iraq? We went in due to the supposed tons of weapons of mass destruction. Um, have we found those yet? No. What good has come out of Iraq? Thousands of dead soldiers and citizens...nope, I can't think of anything good.

Now we may want to go to Iran because they have nuclear facilities? Well that doesn't mean that they will necessarily use their nuclear power against us. We can't just bomb any country who is using nuclear power because eventually they all will. If they have the means of having nuclear facilities, a country would be stupid not to take up that opportunity just for their own safety.

And while we keep making enemies in the Middle East we want to hire and company from an arab nation to guard our ports. None of this makes sense to me at all. I completely understand why Americans are hated by so many nations: because we act arrogant and bully other countries if they do one thing we don't agree with.
