The US no longer the World Power

Have you ever thought about how tarnished the American dream is? The fact that we may never hold the amount power we once held for world order. The fact that we have over extended our resources to the point that our foundation is weak on the home front. It is a fear of mind that one day we will be held in the light that some of the countries are in. When that happen what will it mean for Americans.

What happens if another country has to come to Americas rescue one day. Will we be forced to conform and learn new languages. For many years it has not been possible. With the value of the American dollar decreasing and the Euro on the uprise where will find ourselves. The problems are on the rise and as our country fight a war that will put our country into a major deficit what do we do. Can we save the American dream? Even the Canadian dollar is competing with our economy. Have we got ourselves into a world of trouble?

The next president has a lot of work to do. The global economy that we compete in depends on us getting it together. If we are no longer a competitor we could possible become the needy. So no one thinks it is possible?

Well, the fact is that no power lasts forever. The United States does seem to be in a decline, but I do not believe that it is irreversable at this point. We just need to get past the war and a few other issues and get our economy in working order. As for the value of our money that, on it's own isn't that horrible. Look at the yen and Japan's been doing pretty well. And we aren't the only nation that has economic problems at the moment. Trust me, if we get into a depression, other countries will feel it. They'll have no one else to sell all their crap to.

And, in a way, we already have had other countries help us. That's why we owe so much money to them.

i don't think the u.s will lose it's dominance. It is a possiblity that it can shift to the #2 nation one day, but it will never be "needy". the influx of immigration if it isn't banned in the future, will keep the nation in good shape.

All things must come to an end. I don't think it likely we will face collapse in the near future, but I find it highly unlikey that we will surive throughout all of human history.

Really? I feel like maybe will make it. As long as we do not start a nuclear war field.

I think United States will be overcome by other nations in years to go from now. But not any time soon. We already have to learn Spanish and French...so we'll probably have to learn other languages as well. We're so diverse compare to other countries. I'm actually quite proud to be in America. Now, for now it will definitely be one of the top. It's hard to tell what the future holds. America is a great place to live in though. I hope it would sick down so bad.

I watched the MTV/Myspace talk with John Edwards at UNH last week online. A student stood up and expressed her disdain with "western culture" and "Eurocentric" type history, literature, theory and other coursework. She stressed that she would prefer such courses from a radical feminist perspective. Now, as a Native American, I have my own gripes with some western history, but I have no problem recognizing idiocy when I see or hear it.

She didn't seem to grasp the fact that radical feminist perspective on history, etc.. is Eurocentric. As is the Marxist ideology that helps shape it.

I have no problem with western culture, literature, theory, and even history as a whole. The enlightenment wasn't birthed in eastern culture. The debate about rights and freedoms, self determination, the fight against slavery didn't start in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, etc... the concept of equal rights, for all, including women didn't start in the third world. In fact in those areas I mentioned, they are still holding out from a caste system perspective.

In those countries human trafficking, slavery, exploitation, the denigration of women and children. Female genital mutilation, honor killings, ethnic cleansing, totalitarianism reign almost unchecked. Yet the radical left never criticize it. Makes you wonder what they would rationalize if those types were allowed to gain power here.

I am afraid of the US losing it's standing as a world power. I don't believe that in the modern era it sought to control, rather it inspired others around the world to challenge themselves and their governments to raise standards and quality of life, to fight for freedom and liberty. Now, our present administration is not an example of this, but I also believe that Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary were and are just as bad as Bush.

Globalization is no solution to the world's problems, it's an attempt to enslave and exploit the world's population for corporate profits. If the US continues to falter and support globalization we will fall. For those who find this amusing, they should consider the realities that this will bring about. China and Russia as superpowers will lead to one thing, and it will be far worse than anything speculated in fiction. Even those who consider themselves elite will be little more than a slave. There will be no freedom of speech or of expression. There won't be the ability to protect yourself in any way. No music, film, television or books that you enjoy. It will all be dictated, your time as well, but the same types who ordered that student in Tianemen Square be crushed by that tank.
