A few hours ago, Israel launched a new offensive into the Gaza strip killing at least 60 people. Not surprisingly there has been an outcry in the world over Israels use of both air and land strikes in this operation. Some like the Iranian President have called it the holocaust. Practically every nation in the world denounced it in one way or the other.
Those attacks were a response to months of rockets been fired into Israel by militants/ Jihadists who just believe that Israel has no right to exist. When Israel occupied the Gaza strip the world pointed at the occupation as the reason for the unrest in that area. In 2005, Israel pulled out of Gaza, and what did they get? They got rockets with easier and deeper access to their homeland and a constant war front with a safe haven for their adversaries.
What amazes me the most is the fact that when these rockets were been fired into Israel, the world had nothing to say. When Turkey had a few soldiers kidnapped and the launched a major offensive into Iraq, the world kept quiet, when in Beirut and Sana some 20 demonstrators were killed by troops, the world kept quiet. But Israel is attacked and it attacks back and it becomes "the real holocaust".
Many may argue that the use of force was too disproportionate, but how do you face such an enemy with a proportionate amount of force. How do you define proportionate? When those you're dealing with would rather die than see you live in peace. If any nation goes through, in a single month, what Israel goes through every single day, and that nation has the power that Israel has, i'm pretty sure they wouldn't waste time in occupying and neutralizing the source of that threat.

You're on the money here. It seems that every country in the world is allowed to defend itself except the United States & Israel. And if we try to defend ourselves, we're committing crimes against humanity. By the way, what ever happened to those two Israeli soldiers that were kidnapped by Hezbollah in the summer of '06? It appears that the world has forgotten about them.
Thank you!!
*is Israeli and completely agrees*
It's terrible if civilians were killed in the strike, but in war, that happens. And the IDF has ended up getting many soldiers killed in attempts to prevent civilian loss of life (such as in Jenin).
