There was no National Funeral Day in March Funeral Cost was not raised.
Rest in Peace declared that there should be no National Funeral Director's Day until the Funeral Industry is reformed. The NFDA admitted In the March Issue of the National Funeral Directors Magazine that Funeral Cost in the form of preneed NEEDS to be Fixed.

Here is quotes from my previous post.

"3. The National Funeral Directors Association admitted that Preneed Funerals needs to be fixed. Even the Funeral Directors say if you prepay a preplanned funeral, there is a good chance you may get ripped off! Prepaying a funeral with a funeral trust does not lower your family's funeral cost.

4. The National Funeral Directors Association admitted that the AARP article contained the truth! "R.I.P. OFF." This appeared in "AARP The Magazine" January/February 2008
Issue. The article was a telling status of prepaid funerals in America! "

The NFDA has declared victory in a letter to it's members today. Here is what I received from the NFDA.

"SENATE PASSES RESOLUTION HONORING FUNERAL DIRECTORS. HOUSE TO FOLLOW.
From: John H. Fitch, Jr. (jfitch@nfda.org)"

The resolution did not pass the House in time for National Funeral Directors day in March 2008. As previously mentioned it did pass the Senate.

IT APPEARS THAT THE LOBBYISTS FOR THE NFDA HAVE PERSUADED THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO PASS NATIONAL FUNERAL Directors DAY.

Rest in Peace has always stated there are are Honest Funeral Directors. Yes many work hard and deserve to be honored. But By the NFDA's own Admiission Many Funeral Directors rip family's off.
Evidently because the NFDA said there is need for Reform, many
in Congress believe that is good enough.

Even in the Face of the IFDA mishandling 40 million Dollars....National Funeral Directors day probably will be passed.

Congress people are focused on the Presidential Campaign, the housing crisis, the Economy and the Iraq War. They are not focused on Funeral Scandals, such as the IFDA preneed trust.

These are the opinions of Rest in Peace, your funeral guy, R.Brian Burkhardt, funeral director, State of Illinois.
