Alot of people say we shouldn't test products on animals, because it is so cruel. Where are we suposed to test them on humans? Think of the animals used to experiment on:
If something should happen to one of these animals, isn't it more important that something bad happens to an animal rather than a person? I mean think about it! If there are going to be side effects let them happen to the an animal, not a person.
I am agaist most animal creulty, don't take me wrong. If you are beating your dog or not feeding it. That is wrong and should be animal cruelty, but not testing. I mean you have to test it somewhere and youdon't need to harm you.

Many of the companies testing are cheap cosmetic and household chemical companies, where they are exploiting and taking advantage of the animals, when there are alternative methods of testing. Western society agrees with this policy of being lazy and taking the easy way out just for money, which is disgusting.
Could you give some examples of the alternative methods of testing? I'm a researcher, and I'm not aware of any alternative testing. Animals are used only after all other possible testing has been conducted.

Given the choice between testing on animals or testing on humans (meaning that it's an either-or scenario), I don't see any moral grounds that justify testing on humans.
Thats what i was trying to say. If it is an even or situation why would you say test on humans to save animals. I mean you have to understand why save animals and hurt humans when you could save them.
Testing on animals first is actually dangerous for people. Animals, including humans, are all different on a biochemical level (where drugs work). This means that something that is safe for a dog, may harm a human and vice versa. In fact, chocolate will kill a dog, because of differences in enzymes!
It's common sense that you don't take your dogs medicine, or give your birds medicine to your cat etc..
This would be an immoral act considering the potential dangers. But this is what animal testing does to humans. It puts them at great risk! It also helps to explain why pharmaceutical drugs are the 4th biggest killer of people in the USA!
Animal testing is unethical because it harms both humans and animals.
What about testing a new shampoo on your dog to see it will make its fur fall out. And it may make sence to see if it will make a frog blow up befor you look at the effects on humans
This is not an either-or situation. There is enough technology and scientific advancement in the United States to not test on animals. However, it costs a lot more. Therefore in order to keep prices lower they have to test on animals. I'm a poor college student, but personally, if I had a choice between testing on animals and paying two bucks more for shampoo, I'll take the two bucks more for shampoo.
Medicine is a totally different category, but why the hell do my cosmetics need to be injected into a rabbit? If it is potentially unsafe in any way, I don't want ot put on any organism, animal or otherwise. I'll manage to look good without it!

Actually, many human medicines are used to treat animals. Their biochemistry is exactly the same as ours. All humans are different from each other on a biochemical level, but there are many pathways that are identical. Animals are used when the mechanism of interest is the same in the model organism and humans.

Besides saving countless animal lives, alternatives to animal tests are efficient and reliable. Unlike crude, archaic animal tests, non-animal methods usually take less time to complete, cost only a fraction of what the animal experiments they replace cost, and are not plagued with species differences that make extrapolation difficult or impossible. Effective, affordable, and humane research methods include studies of human populations, volunteers, and patients, as well as sophisticated in vitro, genomic, and computer-modeling techniques.
Forward-thinking companies are exploring modern alternatives. For example, Pharmagene Laboratories, based in Royston, England, is the first company to use only human tissues and sophisticated computer technologies in the process of drug development and testing. With tools from molecular biology, biochemistry, and analytical pharmacology, Pharmagene conducts extensive studies of human genes and how drugs affect those genes or the proteins they make. While some companies have used animal tissues for this purpose, Pharmagene scientists believe that the discovery process is much more efficient with human tissues. “If you have information on human genes, what’s the point of going back to animals?
Sorry i wasn't aware of all of that, Thank you for the information
I agree but animals have no choice and that is the sad part, humans have a choice and if they want to do it then that a decision to take up with them. ~<3~Love and be loved!~<3~
Your money as a tax payer goes to harm animals.
You know most products that are tested on animals, end up killing the animal within 24 hours, but doesn't harm the humans. Animals and humans are completely different, and yet we test on them, and get different outcomes. How can anyone be 'okay' with it, is beyond me, but its your opionion too.
