A follow up to the Victoria Lindsay beating: We love violence

On my last post about Victoria Lindsay I've recieved 10,500+ views. I was utterly surprised and I had no idea how I could be recieving about 1,000 to 2,000 views per day. Then I figured maybe my site came up on a search engine like Google. I didn't believe it at first because it was such a far cry, I mean my little blog getting so many views from Google? So I searched Victoria Lindsey (instead of Lindsay) and my blog was the second site to come up. I then realized that I spelled her last name wrong. I thought about changing by blog to the proper spelling but then I thought about it: if I got this many views from spelling her name with an 'e' instead of an 'a' then why change it? This mispelling helped me, because obviously 10,500+ people thought it was spelled with an 'e'. So I didn't change it, if I did my post wouldn't be as popular and I'd get less views because all the news sites who spelled her name right would come before mine and my blog would probably be on the 10,500th Google page, lol. More views= more points.

But anyway, that's not why I'm following up on my last post. Well it is, but I figured I'd share my little experience with you.

The fact that my last post recieved 10,500+ views proves how violence-obsessed our country is. We absolutly love violence in this country, or maybe all around the world, I'm no sure. I'd like to think it's human nature. Even I'm willing to admit that violence is exciting. It gets your adrenaline pumping, ect. Violence has been thriving since the beginning of time, I guess, what with cock fights in early Rome and dog fights in early American history.

Do you think it's human nature to be so excited by violence? Do you think it's the human race in general? Do you think it's mainly our country? Or do you totally disagree with everything I said?

I mean, obviously we're entertained enough to give a tiny little blog so many views about a girl getting lynched- even with a small spelling mistake.

I think that maybe a small part of it is possibly some sort of evolutionary remainder from hunting. Our ancestors would have felt this rush of adrenaline when stalking and bringing down prey - it's just a natural bodily reaction and we all still have it. It also serves as a defense mechanism; puts us in that 'fight or flight' mode.

Depicting acts of violence can be a thrill to watch. Who didn't like 'Kill Bill'? But I think many people have a problem in drawing the line between real and imaginary and what is and is not acceptable. American culture has de-evolved into a state of instant gratification and I think increased violence is a terrible side affect to this... Take that group of nine-year olds who were plotting to tie up, torture, and possibly kill their teacher all for reprimanding one student. They didn't like this, and instead of just pouting or complaining about it, they wanted revenge and for her to pay for their hurt feelings. Nevermind just taking it and dealing with it, they just had to take matters into their own hands.

Everybody wants to see results right away, and sometimes those desired results are violence. It's really quite sad and scary to imagine what our future society will be like if this is the way children are acting now and people are still unwilling to shoulder the responsibility of their actions on to the kids and the parents and continue to use the media as their scapegoat.
