One Year Down Only Three to Go

After finally finishing my freshmen year of college, I feel relief, but I also wish it didn't have to end.  I love college much more than high school.  I do miss my friends from high school and all the fun stuff we did, but I love the freedom that comes along with college.  I grew up on a farm with pretty protective parents so I never really got to do much of anything.  I chose a college that is five hours away from home, so I hardly ever go home, and now that I am spending the entire summer at home, I am really going to miss the freedom that I got so used to in college.

I did learn a lot of things during my first year of college, but almost everything I learned had nothing to do with academics, it was stuff I learned about myself, especially the fact that I now love being completely independent.  I do like living in the dorms, but I don't like to live with colored people.  I don't mind colored people living all around me, but I don't like to have to share a room with one.  I really don't think it is all people that are just like my roommate, but she is quite odd and I really just don't want to have another colored roommate again.  Bad experiences really change your thought patterns.

I am really looking forward to coming back next fall, and having an even better time than I did this year.

Well what is wrong with living with "colored" people? I am what you call "colored", and my family is "colored." I am going to a "non-colored" college next year and will more than likely have to live with a "non-colored" roomate. What's your problem with "colored" people?

I don't have a problem with colored people. I just really don't like to live in the same room as one. Maybe it is just my roommate, but I don't know. I really don't mind colored people at all, I have a couple of friends that are colored and they are great people, I just don't like to have to share my life with one. I really don't believe all people are like my roommate, but I really just can't stand her.

Oh my goodness, no you didnt say colored people. Im not one i dont think LOL. Im hispanic and I have a white roomate. I also am about to finish my 1st year in college. I love it too!!! People are all differnt. You shouldnt judge a person by their color and how some may act and think they are all like that. You know? College should be a place where you learn to erase the colors and add professionalism. ~<3~Love and be loved!~<3~

Thank you for saying what needs to be said. I'm glad that some of us have some kind of sense and we are not all ignorant.

just be thankful you can afford to live in a dorm and grow as a person.

I am sure that it is just your roomate. I had really horrible roommate experiences last year as well, but my roomates are white. Does that mean all white people are going to be like that? Of course not. So if you once again get roomed with a "colored" person, as you say, I am sure you will be fine.
