The Queen of Jordan

Today, I was watching Oprah.  Her guest of the day was the Queen of Jordan.  I felt the need to write about this woman because I was totally blown away by her.  Not only was she totally gorgeous, but she was one of the most brilliant women I have ever seen.  She had such a beautiful heart.  One of her famous quotes is, "When you educate women, you educate the future."  I thought that was a wonderful way to view the world.  In the Middle East, women aren't usually allowed to get an education.  Her country, Jordan, actually has a high literacy rate for women compared to the rest of the Middle East.  Their culture just doesn't encourage women to get an education, and she is trying to hard to change that.  Everything she said tugged at my heart.  I wish that we had leaders in America which such a big heart and such a need to make the world a better place.  She also helped to bring a little bit more awareness to Middle Eastern culture, which is very important to me.  Americans are very naive, especially about the head scarves that women wear.  We as Americans see that as a sign of weakness and as a degrading tradition.  However, the Queen pointed out that she has never wore one herself, but that it is a personal choice for every woman to make, and the men don't make the women wear them.  The Muslim women feel closer to Allah when they wear the scarves, and therefore choose to keep the tradition going.  I hope that everyone got a chance to see this episode, and if not, I hope you can catch it in the reruns.  She was an amazing woman!

I saw it, she was great. Hope more Queens turn out to be more like her

Not only queens, but women all over the word, and men too. It's a great mentality to have in these days. About the Muslim culture, there are so many things we don't know, but we invent, in order to 'look informed'. This is where we are wrong, because we make Muslims look completely different.
