Home Remedies
Sometimes it’s impossible to find antibiotics to cure an injury or sickness. Sometimes the Pepto Bismal is empty and mom’s not home to buy a new bottle. Here are a few home-remedies to use when antibiotics and other medicines are inaccessible. It may not work for everyone, but there’s no harm in trying!
Bruise easily?
In China, their remedy is: one part cayenne spice, to five parts Vaseline. Melt the Vaseline, combine with the spice, and let cool. Apply to bruise once a day. To help the prevention of bruises, eat lots of foods with Vitamin K, such as broccoli, which causes the blood to clot faster.
Having Diarrhea?
Try a combination of cinnamon and cayenne pepper in your tea! It is supposed to be very effective in tightening the bowels quickly. A fun fact: It’ll take longer to prepare the tea than for the concoction to take effect.
Here’s how to make it:
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil
Add ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon
Add 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
Simmer for 20 minutes then cool
Drink ¼ cup every half hour until symptoms cease
Are you plagued with dark circles under your eyes?
Almond is a wonderful “skin food”! Massage under the eyes with almond oil before bed. Do this everyday for two weeks.
Hate those mosquito bites?
A) Do not eat bananas! Mosquitoes like bananas and how they make blood sweet!
B) Don't wear the color blue. Mosquitoes find it attractive.
C) Avoid wet clothes. Stay dry!
Rashes
Vitamin E is very helpful. Take a capsule of Vitamin E, squish out the liquid inside and mix it with a little petroleum jelly. Gently spread on the irritated skin.
Raspy, painful sore throat?
Crush an aspirin with a spoon. Stir it in with water, then gargle. Do not swallow! Spit it out in the sink. You may rinse out the yucky taste afterwards (do not gargle or swallow the clean water – keep the aspirin particles in as long as possible)
Pounding, raw headaches -
Salicylates, a pain-relieving ingredient found in aspirin, are also discovered to be present in almonds! 15 raw almonds do the work of one aspirin! However, although you don’t risk any side effects, the almonds will take longer to have an effect.
Cold feet?
Warm up your toes with black pepper! Sprinkle some pepper into your socks before slipping in your feet. It helps to speed the process by rubbing the socks against your feet.
