The Democratically led House of Representatives is moving to pass a resolution condemning Turkey’s genocidal actions against the Armenians from 1915 to 1923.
Why is this important to them and why now?
Simple, they will do anything in their power to make sure the United States loses the war in Iraq. You see Turkey is our ally and their country borders Iraq to the north. As our ally, Turkey allows the United Sates to move equipment and supplies to our military in Iraq. By pissing Turkey off with this move the Dems hope that Turkey will respond by denying the U.S. access through their country and thereby denying vital supplies to our troops. They will also be able to point to Turkey as yet another example of George W losing another aly in the war.
I think this act is nothing less that traitorous, the Democrats are invested so deeply in our defeat in Iraq they will stop short of nothing. Nancy Pelosi should be thrown in jail for treason!

This is not traitorous. Focusing on the actual event of the matter, an Armenian genocide more than likely occured in Turkey and it is important to recognize that it actually happened. And the time has come for the Iraq war to end anyways, so this has good implications. We have already been defeated in Iraq.
Actually, Congress has condemned the Armenian genocide five times now. Why now? For the exact that Briane stated: the Dems. want us to lose the war. Following your line of reasoning, we should condemn every genocide committed every year. Besides the absurdity of it, those who committed the genocide are all dead. Why should we condemn their descendents?
Secondly, doesn't Congress have more important things to do than condemn Turkey and try to lose the war? Ex.: fixing Social Security, balancing the budget, etc.
Lastly, despite what the major media networks tell us, we are winning in Iraq! Iraqi security forces are starting to take over, civilian and military deaths are down, many good things are happening right now. Congress should be excited that we are on the track to victory, not calling for self-inflicted defeat.
"We have already been defeated in Iraq." - I think you are getting your news from the wrong sources, things are going much better in Iraq. Here's an article today about how al Qaeda in Iraq is all but defeated: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/bulletin/bulletin_071015.htm
Also the civilian death toll is down by 50% in the past month. You probably won't hear any of this from the mainstream media, they're too busy waiting to see if Britney farted.
