Well this is interesting anyways, a CNN poll says that American people are concerned that in dealing with Iran, the Bush administration will be too quick to use military force.  They also say that the American people doubt that the UN would be able to stop Iran from developing a weapons program.

Sixty-eight percent of the respondents called for economic and diplomatic action to keep Iran away from atomic weapons, while only 9 percent called for military action.

Even if diplomacy were to fail, only 36 percent of those who responded to the survey thought military action would be called for, while 45 percent said it would not.

Well, it's progress anyways...  Although I don't know if any of us are considering the effect that a new war with Iran would have on our already stretched military.

So why would Iran WANT weapons anyways?  From the same link...

Fifty-nine percent thought Iran would use nuclear weapons against the United States, and 80 percent thought the Iranians would hand them over to terrorists to use against the United States.

More thought Iran would use the weapons against Israel -- 77 percent -- and about as many -- 81 percent -- thought Iran would give them to terrorists who wanted to use them against Israel.

So remember that if the administration decides that Iran is a threat-we already think they want to use them against Israel more than us and the Bush administration will have to persuade us and Congress otherwise to begin a new war.

Valerie Plame was working on this when her identity was disclosed.  In that position, security was compromised.  Iran has always been more of a threat than Iraq, but we were decieved into a panic over Iraq.  Let's not let it happen again.

Let's not redo Iraq.  Let's exhaust ALL UN diplomatic and economic options before we even CONSIDER force.  And let's have CONCRETE proof that Iran's new nuclear energy program IS easily converted to a military program.  Haven't we all had enough of dead ends?

Very good points Nolie. And I say, "LET the EU take the lead because BUSH and this administration can not be trusted to do the right thing!" (And so far, neither are the Republicans who are refusing to hold the administration accountable.

I agree. Well said Nolie!
I think we should give Iran a chance. Loads of other countries have nuclear energy, why not Iran too?
